When doing a \"restore\" op, following an initial \"save\", \"access denied\" failures occur.

Note: \"Save\" ops. are successful, with the .bat
\"save\" file, per http://www.boinc-wiki.info/index.php?title=Backup_BOINC.

\"Restore\" .bat file:

XCOPY \"c:\\Backups\\cBOINC\\*.* \"c:\\Program Files\\BOINC\" /C /M /E /Y /I.

Note1: Some of these arguments pbly. not needed.

System: Windows VISTA Business.

Ques.: Is the pblm. due to an over-sight/type-o, of mine, or might VISTA be the culprit?

Thanks, in advance,

Jim M.

Could you check in \'task manager\'/\'processes\' to see if any of the Boinc or CPDN processes are still running? (look for boinc.exe, boincmgr.exe, hadcm3..., hadam3, hadsm3...).

Both the backup and restore must be done when boinc has been entirely shut down.

There are some alternative restore strategies which you can find in the various README lists (see the link in my signature).

... with Vista the advice is to install outside \'Program Files\', for which the UAC might well mess up a restore.

Thanks for the info., Mike. I\'ll check it out. It appears, at this point, a
VISTA security, which I\'ll have to play around with, if I don\'t happen upon
someone else\'s results, first.

Solution to problem:

Right-click on \"restore\" batch-file, then click on \"Run as Administrator\".

Again, thank-you you gentlemen\'s responses.

Cheers,

Jim M.
