I have just installed BOINC on a Vista machine and tried to connect to this Project. \"http//ClimatePrediction.net\" did not work, so I tried \"www.climateprediction.net\" and that did work. Now, in the messages tab of BOINC it says \"You used the wrong URL for this project\" \"The correct URL is http//climateprediction.net/\" \"When convenient, detach this project then reattach to http//climatepredition.net/\" When convenient? When is it \"convenient\"? If the web address doesn\'t work will it ever be convenient? Why did the wrong address work in the first place? |

I don\'t think the wrong address did work. You\'ll be getting this message from boinc and not from ClimatePrediction in Oxford. It should be http://....... with the colon. Maybe you missed it out? I wonder whether typing in ClimatePrediction with 2 uppercase letters could also cause it to fail. It should be \'climateprediction.net\'. http://boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/projects.php When you\'ve tried again could you please let us know whether it now works. Cpdn news |

Any outstanding work units would be lost when you change the URL, but if you\'ve only just attached the host it\'s probably better to do it now rather than later. \'When convenient\' is when you\'ve finished all outstanding work units, but in the climate projects that could be in several months time. If you\'re attaching via Boinc 5.10.x (5.10.20 has just been released), then try attaching using the project list rather than typing in the URL. As Mo says, typing in the shorter version of the URL should work. PS Do I detect a Larry Niven influence? I'm a volunteer and my views are my own. News and Announcements and FAQ |
