I have done 20000 timesteps, and should have generated a trickle file. I should be creating a new one shortly. How do I verify that a trickle has been generated?

I've had models trickle back a couple of times. You'll be very lucky to spot the file if you've got a permanent connection. After the trickle problems in the alpha trial Carl said he waxs going to write the files directly into the boinc directory instead of having boinc transfer it from the slots directory. There are 2 ways to tell if you're trickling at the moment:

1) trickle will add scheduler RPC messages to the messages tab.

2) the details of your last trickle will be in the file sched_request.xml in the boinc directory.

Hello John :),

the trickle is send when created. I saw it when BOINC connected the scheduler, what was a surprise for me with a WU with estimated 6 weeks of crunching.

After this I remembered the trickle thing and found the value on the web page of the currently crunched result for my host.

I would say disabling network activity may hold the file on the client host.

I see one on the web site, I should have two. Is the display running one behind? Or is there just a slow piece between the upload and the display. I found the log entries where BOINC connected to CPDN, this was made more difficult because of all of the errors and connection attempts to the other projects that are not up to 4.x yet.

I had only one trickle until now and that is shown on the web page and I am not sure, but this happend quick as I remember. Tomorrow there must be reached the next trickle point.

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/ and navigate to: Your Account / Results / Number in 'Result ID' column / Trickle # at bottom of page.

David Anderson fixed my trickle woes (hence the version 4.02 we're using) so if you're connected (and your BOINC settings allow for network traffic) the trickle will be sent pretty much immediately after creation (you'll see the "Scheduler RPC" message). If you're not online (or disabled network address) the trickles spool and eventually get sent.

I have now added a "Trickle #" section on your result page which is the total # of trickles received so far for this one, which you can click on to see the trickle details for this result.

Hello TheBigJens,

here we meet again, nice to meet you :-))

My first cpdn-box is running 29 hours now; I can see 3 trickles on my configuration-page (for each running modell).

From my sight, trickles seem to work fine

I only saw this with the first two trickles. After that they seem to match what I expect.

I have a strange trickle problem. According to my results page I have 4 trickles. Clicking it though gives me a lot more trickles and claims I am in phase 2, while I am still in phase 1.

Is this the database going wrong?

Btw, the Linux box hasn't send in a single trickle yet. It's done 2 already. But we're checking the network settings here.

I doubt if its a database problem. All 4 of my models are giving the same output as yours, so I'd suspect a problem has been introduced in the changes to add the temp/precip graphs.

Clearly something has changed since I looked yesterday evening. I am now have this problem as well. My credits seem about right, but the times for the trickles that are on the page for my run are absurd.

It started as soon as the expt graphs were added. Just seems as if everyone got the same trickles as Carl's main machine (??).

Ha, sorry about that, it turns out for awhile I had accidentally "hardcoded" a user who is in phase 2 (Honza) to test the new user precip/temp graphs at each phase.

Yup, it is normal now. :)

Thanks for that, Carl.
