Hello everyone. Using 1 CPU averaging 239.54. Decided to pick it up and use other CPU. Using P3.2 HT. Went to my pref and set it to use 2 cpu\'s. Boinc client downloaded additional zip file as expected and stated to process. Runtime error (same as everyone else) on 2nd CPU. I read some threads associating it with HP software. I do have an HP printer so I went to msconfig to stop it from loading the printer software. Rebooted, same problem
Uninstalled Boinc 4.05 and reinstalled using 2 CPU, same problem. Uninstalled and reinstalled using 1 CPU, same problem. I can\'t even get back to where I started. I\'ve been searching the forums for the last 2 evenings hoping for some good news. Any suggestions. I am inexperienced with regestry editing but will back it up and try. It worked perfect remember in the beginning with the printer software installed.

Thank You
Butch Roberts

Hello again. I was able to retrieve the neccesary files associated with my current CP project and restore them and delete the WU's that were invertently downloaded. I was also able to delete the erred files waiting to be uploaded as well and things are running as before with no loss of credit using 1 CPU. That is with my HP printer software loaded. If some of this sounds noobish, well.... I am.:). It just would not stop uploading and downloading WU's. Will run as is till I see a problem has been identified.

Thank You

I started that, I have a HP Pavilion a562n P4 3.0E

I had a program on my computer (HP Imagezone Plus 3.5) that caused alot of problems so I removed it and it solved my probelms with BOINC and a number of other things.

My problems were with BOINC v4.05 but I didnt have problems with v4.03 in beta.

Also reading on ZDNet I found an article saying that those with oem Windows may need to apply patches before installing SP2 or conflicts may occur, this artical pointed to Dell and HP and said owners of other computers with oem Windows should check with manufactures for updates.

I checked and found HP Imagezone Plus 3.5 was one of those programs.

How this effects BOINC I dont know but this is also happening just as SP2 is comming out.

So I dont think this is a HP specific problem.
