Greetings! I just joined this project and I must say, I LOVE IT.

I have 2 questions-

I have an Athlon 3800+, bought a week ago. \"timesteps\" or when the time changes by half an hour get completed in about 2 or 1 seconds, but sometimes they freeze up for times up to 20 seconds. In the screensaver mode, I get 2 hours done in 1 second without any hangups. Is this normal? Also, in 34 minutes of CPU time, I got 0.023% into the way, for a 1920-2080 model. Is this a good time?

Second, I\'d like to know what type of model I got (sulphur, etc.)

It\'s telling me i\'m doing a model of december 1920 at the moment, and when I get to see a progress bar, it shows me 1920-2080 at 0.02% completion. Which project did I get? Also, when I look at the graphics page, It tells me: Global Progress: Registered Users: 1. What is that?

Thanks-keep up the great work on the project!

Hi Beremat. Welcome to the project.

It\'s a Coupled Ocean model, also known as a TCM, Transient Coupled Model.
They\'re all that there is now, and are a combination of experiments 2 and 3 as described here. They can also be described as a hindcast + forecast model.

These models start in December 1920 so as to be fully running by the start of 1921.
They trickle once a year, in early December. The first trickle is at 0.67%

As I recall, the number of users when you first start is 1 because that\'s you, and the total number hasn\'t been found by the program at that stage.
You can see stats on the project\'s front page here.

As for how well your computer is doing, others will show up soon to give you some comparisons. But running the screen saver will slow you down a lot. Those of us serious about the crunching set Windows to use Blank or None under screensaver, and use the Show graphics button in the Tasks tab occasionally.

There are 4 README stickies here with \"things you need to know\".

Thanks, right now my model is at 4422 timesteps and at 02/02/21. The registered users still says 1, but I guess that can wait. Thanks for the readmes! That answered many questions.

If something comes up, i\'ll post again.

Three of my machines have A64 X2 4400+. They\'re similar except for minor differences in memory and one is my general-purpose box. Differences also arise from differences in the parameter mix assigned to each Model. They have, among them, a half dozen Models ranging from 1.88 to 1.98 s/TS.

If your 3800+ is an X2, your times will be slower. If not an X2, the Run should be faster than my 4400s.

If you click \"Z\" when you have the pop-up graphics, the overlay will be removed and you\'ll see some stats for your Run, including seconds per Time Step.

3800+ is a good CPU. Welcome to the Project and best of luck with it. (Regular backups [I make them every 5 to 7 days and when it becomes necessary to shut-down for M$ updates, etc.] will surely help see you through to the end of the 160-year experiment.)

Actually, I don\'t plan on leaving the computer on 24/7... Just until the next checkpoint, backup, then turn off. ;)

I have a dsingle, not a X2 3800+. I was just playing a 3D MMO so it is at 2.10 but when I was running the Visualizer all the time, it was at 2.03.

I\'ll try to leave it for the day tomorrow without any apps with a clean boot, blank screensaver and see what it drops down to.

Best to suspend it while playing games, since the graphics drivers can sometimes cause the model to crash in this situation.

My project is at 0.691% but no trickle message. My messages tab says nothing about sending anything or connecting to the server. Nothing in Transfers ever showed up. What\'s the deal?

What is the setting in Manager\'s Activity link? Network activity suspended? If so, choose one of the other two long enough to upload the Trickle.

You don\'t get trickles in the Transfers tab, only the zips.

If you haven\'t sent the trickle, it will be in the folder of that model name as trickle_up_........... .xml, where the dots are the name of the model, followed by a long time stamp number.

You have credit for your first trickle, so it was sent. The trickle was sent back around 6 hours before your message post. The credits are not instantaneous. The trickles are credited once or twice a day. So you do have your credits for your first trickle, and things look good.
