I set up CPDN on my computer on Tuesday and have so far not received any work. I have just received the following error message:

07/07/2006 10:43:24|climateprediction.net|Message from server: No work sent
07/07/2006 10:43:24|climateprediction.net|Message from server: (there was work but you don\'t have enough disk space allocated)
07/07/2006 10:43:24|climateprediction.net|Message from server: Not enough disk space (only 29945.4 MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for maximum disk space used.

Is 30GB really not enough disk space?

Mark: Go to your project preferences here and edit the Disk and memory usage setting (first 2 rows under this section).
On the projects tab, select update for the changes to take effect.

hi there, i have exactly the same problem and i think i know why:

07.07.2006 15:10:26|climateprediction.net|Sending scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
07.07.2006 15:10:26|climateprediction.net|Reason: Requested by user
07.07.2006 15:10:26|climateprediction.net|Requesting 8640 seconds of new work
07.07.2006 15:10:41|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request succeeded
07.07.2006 15:10:41|climateprediction.net|Message from server: No work sent
07.07.2006 15:10:41|climateprediction.net|Message from server: (there was work but you don\'t have enough disk space allocated)
07.07.2006 15:10:41|climateprediction.net|Message from server: Not enough disk space (only 28611.3 MB free for BOINC). Review preferences for minimum disk free space allowed.

After that i looked into my preferences and saw 247 results O.o So I think that boinc is trying to download all this stuff at once and that will be more then 30 GB.

Asriel

You\'re now up to 292 models. It should NOT be possible to get this many so quickly.

The servers are clogged up at present, and running too slowly for me to look at you models. Are you still using a 4.* version of BOINC?
This may account for part of your problem, as the new models need a 5.* version.

I know that this is not possible and i think this is a problem on your side.

i use boinc 5.4.9 with win xp sp2. there were no problems with the first model i got, but it ended today after only 6 or 7 model years. (why?) after that i wasn\'t able to get a new task.

I see what you mean. Apparently I have 149 results, yet my computer doesn\'t appear to have ran any of them. I am running the latest version of BOINC.

I ran one WU successfully a month or two ago, after which it failed to start any new ones. Trying to get it going again. It\'s running fine on another computer (though, it\'s the first CPDN WU on that computer.)

I\'m running the latest BOINC manager, and I detached and reattached; CPDN is only using about 6MB of disk space according to BOINC manager.

It seems that each time the server is contacted, it creates scores of WU ID\'s and leaves them all \"In Progress\". Whether that\'s a cause, effect, or unrelated bug is for the experts to figure out.

Thanks,
Jeff

Yup, I\'m going now too.

However, the system still thinks I\'m working on 400 WU\'s, and I bet this is true for a number of other people. I hope a bunch of WU\'s don\'t get swept under the rug until 2008 (when results are due for WUs started now).

They just created another 184,000 work units...

They\'re effectively random (monte carlo simulation), so more can be created at will.

I\'m getting the same problem, \"Not enough disk space allocated\".

I don\'t see how I have control over that. I show 1.47 GB.

How much does climateprediction need? I see no guidelines for that

Technical requirements here.

The new models need about 660 Megs.
If you have 1.47G used, it\'s because of the remanents of the 6 crashed models.

The option for telling BOINC about the amount of space it can use, is in your General preferences, on your account page.

Hello! Just wanted to say I\'m a new user (I\'ve been on Einstein@Home for a while) and I had this exact same problem, too. Now BOINC seems to finally be downloading something from climateprediction.net, after resetting the project, so I hope the problem is solved.

Vedrana, sorry but there\'s a problem at the server end and you have over 400 models when you only need 1 or 2.

Please stop clicking boinc buttons and read what Les and I have said to Evgeny in the second part of this thread:
