I have been running the climate prediction project for a year now without problem however in the last 2 days my computer just finished 2 runs of the sulphur cycle and is now looking for more work. When i look in the messages windows i see the following:

unrecoverable error for result hadcm3lbm_an30_05265743_0 (The system cannot find the file specified (0x2) - exit code 2 (0x2))

and

unrecoverable error for result hadcm3lbm_a49c_05241347_1 (The system cannot find the file specified (0x2) - exit code 2 (0x2))

I am using the boinc client 4.19 on windows XP sp2

Anyone got any idea what is wrong?

Regards

Alex

Hi Alex, and welcome!

Good to hear that you finished your models. However, the new TCM-runs are not able to cope with the BOINC client 4.xx.

You can get the latest copy of the BOINC client (wich is 5.4.9) from http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php .

Please note: You MUST uninstall your old version 4.19 BEFORE attempting to install the new one.

Also note: The version 5.4.9 has something like strict url-checking, so be shure to connect to CPDN with http://climateprediction.net/ and nothing else (so no www. or something like that).

Happy crunching!

I\'m having the same problem, but I upgraded to 5.4.9 over a week ago. The problem started two or three weeks ago. Each time, the simulation runs for a while, then crashes with a similar file not found error. Under my previous version of BOINC, an earlier 5.? version, it went several days then crashed. Under 5.4.9, it seems to pretty reliably crash every day.

I\'ll post the specific error message later, when the model has crashed for the day. I got a slightly different error yesterday. This is on a 1yr old Dell running XP2.

Your problem happened when the new models started. I see it reports 509M, which means your system might be using shared video memory. Are you using the screen saver? If so, stop, and see if that helps.

If not, find the programs Prime95 and Memtest86+ and do some checking on your machine, to see if it is having issues.

Took me a while to remember to check back. It worked well for a while then started crashing again. The error line reads:
7/11/2006 2:55:32 PM|climateprediction.net|Unrecoverable error for result hadcm3lbm_8klu_25169221_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))

I have turned off the screensaver. Hopefully that will clear things up. If not, I\'ll try the utilities you\'ve suggested.

Thanks!

If it\'s run OK for a month, that\'s very promising. It would be a good idea to make a copy of the full Boinc directory (after shutting down the model) at intervals as a backup (I do this weekly)
