I have one of the older Sulphur units on my laptop and have no way to connect it to the internet for the next three months. Is the WU completely unusable to the scientists, or could I continue to run it?
I want the machine to have something to crunch while it is recharging, as I believe this is best for the battery rather than recharging it fast.

Sulphurs are virtually obsolete, now that the TCMs have started.
If you wish to continue with the ones that you have, then I\'d suggest that you just run them past the first phase. There is extra data in that upload that is useful, but going further would be a waste of electricity.

After that, make sure that you have BOINC version 5.*, and start a TCM.

Oh, that\'s very disapointing Les.

I\'ve got three sulphurs on the go at 26%, 33% and 78%.

Should I \"can\" all of them and go for new TCMs; I\'d be especially sorry to see the 78% one stop as it\'s been keeping my rather aged laptop warm since 4th Feb ?

I\'m running BOINC 5.2.13

I agree about keeping the 78% one going. The others? Well, that depends on how attached you are to them.

Sulphur models were a short, (3-4 month), project to get sulphate data to start off the Coupled Ocean models. They were never intended to be a long, drawn out crunching project.

Thanks for your reply Les, I´ll keep it running till the end of phase 1 and see if I can then connect the pc and get a newer model.
