Colin edit out the account key and eamil address NOW! The 1st is like a password, and the 2nd is just the sort of thing that spammers are looking for. ************************** As for your other problem, you\'ve created two accounts: ID: 176258 (the one you are now using to post) and userid=176796 (the one on which you are crunching) The 2nd one shows that you only have 319.48 MB, (1/2 the minimum), and the speed is 668MHz, which is 1/2 to 1/3 of that minimum recommended to finish a model in a reasonable time. ************* Your model failed with: exit code 1073807364, which is a graphics problem. The exact amount of memory shown on your account tends to indicate that you don\'t have a separate graphics card, just \"onboard\" chips. These use up some of the system memory, making it even harder for the processor to run the model. All told, I don\'t think that your computer is suitable for this demanding task, but there are other, simpler, projects if you\'re interested. Let us know if you\'d like help with upgrading your computer hardware, or if you\'d like the names of some other projects to try. |

LES, Colin, This is what Les meant: CPU type GenuineIntel x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 3 668MHz Memory 319.48 MB Recommended minimum CPU speed is 1,500MHz; yours is less than half that. Recommended minimum RAM memory is 512 Meg; yours is considerably short. Will the Model run to completion on your machine? Perhaps. But trouble is expected and the outcome doubtful. Also, even if it runs all day every day, it will likely require more than a year to finish. (I didn\'t do the arithmetic, so can\'t give you a precise figure.) Edit: Forgot some! To detach, go to \'Projects\' tab in the \'Manager\'. Highlight the climate project and click on \'Detach\' at the left. To attach to something else, go to their site and open an account and follow directions to attach, or then return to Manager and attach from there. [quote]Many Thanks for help - have now successfully detached from CPDN and restarted with SETI which provides reasurance of some apparent progress early on. One separate question mentioned in my original query concerned whether necessary or advisable to EXIT or to SUSPEND before closing down computer by normal windows procedure. If the former presumably via file menu ?? Seem to remember some advice on this somewhere in multiple information but have been unable since to find it. I\'m of the \'better safe than sorry\' school, so I use Commands/Suspend and, when stopped, File/Exit. If you don\'t run CPDN, though, that procedure probably isn\'t necessary. SETI, for example, is smaller and has fewer files to close. If it\'s necessary, you\'ll see remarks about it in the SETI Boards. (Except for a bit of SETI/Astropulse Beta, something like two years ago, I haven\'t run SETI since it moved to boinc, so my information about running it is suspect at best.) Good luck over there. Having been involved with computers for over 30 years, I\'ve gotten used to closing down a computer gently. One tends to have problems when one shuts down a main frame by \"pulling the plug\". So, I Suspend, wait until it says \"Suspended\", and then Exit. It\'s a reflex action. And it WAS needed with earlier versions of BOINC. But it is apparently OK to just Exit with current versions. Both of these commands are in the Menu, and can also be accessed by right-clicking the globe/B icon in the systray. |
