I think you have to have the graphics window open when you contact the server. To try this open graphics in the work(tasks) tab, then use update in the projects tab.

By the way, you should consider not using the screensaver option (set Windows screensaver to blank or none). It tends to use a great deal of procesing power and so slows progress.
