Message 2435 - Posted: 1 Sep 2004, 0:18:43 UTC

I\'ve just signed up because of all the outages over at Seti@Home and I\'m getting the message

\"climateprediction.net - 2004-09-01 08:03:47 - Message from server: No work available (there was work but you don\'t have enough disk space allocated)\"

So what can I do ?? Boinc free space is being reported at 504mb, SETI is using 6.04mb, Free space 617mb
but windows is reporting free space as being 1.14gb how can I fix this ??
Win XP Pro
Boinc v4.05

Cheers

Set the correct space for BOINC to use in your preferences on http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/prefs.php?subset=global

Make sure you have at least 600MB free for CPDN alone. Yes, it may need that amount of space for the work unit. It may even need up to 1GB of free space.

So a drive with at least 4GB free is better than a drive with only 1GB free.

Seems I have a problem then. Boinc is on my C drive and there is 1.14gb free at present but I have almost 20gb on my d: drive is it possible to move boinc or at least it's data files ??

It should be possible, Becker_11, but you'll have to do some registry hacking to make sure everything works properly. First off you'll have to stop BOINC.

Assuming you've installed to c:\\program files\\boinc, it'll be a lot easier if you copy to the same path on your d drive. Having done that, run the registry editor, search for all occurrences of c:\\program files\\boinc in data and change the drive letter. Everything in the BOINC directory should have relative pathing, so shouldn't give you any problems. Should then just be a case of starting BOINC up again.

All of this comes with the caveat that I haven't tried it myself, but if it doesn't work all you'll need to do to revert back is stop BOINC, undo the registry changes and restart BOINC.

Thanks for that but as it involved the registry I decided not to try it. I tried uninstalling Boinc then reinstalling it on my D: drive and apart from the seti w/u's I lost it worked ok. That and I changed my boinc free space to a 4gig max.

After doing that I was able to get my CPDN w/u's .....

thx for everyones help :-)
