I am intending to install 2 extra 1Gb RAM Modules. At the moment I\'m running on 512 MB total.
Does anyone know if this will upset the running of the programme? (Sulphur Cycle 4.22)
It\'s been cracking on for 165 hours now and I don\'t want to start again.
Running on Windows XP Home-updated.

There is no one that can guarentee you will not have a problem, but if it is the correct RAM, and not faulty in any way, it should not cause an issue. I have seen someone install RAM that was not designated for their machine and trash units it was working on (on a different project).

Depending on your install, you could stop BOINC from loading at bootup/login, install the memory, do some testing, then restart BOINC after you are satisfied. This is probably the safest way to do it.

You can also do a backup of the BOINC folder (after exiting Boinc)

I hope that you are going to remove your 512MB stick and replace it with 2 X 1GB sticks

AMD boards do not like more than two sticks of ram and certainly do not like mismatched sticks of ram

after you put your new ram in, run memtest and prime, make sure things are stable

what I then do is backup CPDN and run it with networking suspended for a few days just to make sure it doesn\'t crash.........if it does I restore the backup and try to figure out what i fuc#ed up
