Per my message yesterday and Les\' answer - my backup was made after the crash and previous bu not available so I need to let climateprediction.net Project Administrators know that my experiment has been prematurely terminated(per NOTE 2 of License Agreement)- how do I do this or has it already been done by virtue of my submitting my problem yesterday? Next question: how do I get a new project to run (or the same one to start over) - without getting a new ID - if I follow the Start Up procedure and download from scratch won\'t I get a new ID?

The \'Let us know\' only applied to the orignal pre-BOINC version of the project.
Now, when the server hasn\'t heard from a model for about 6 weeks, (via trickles), it automatically assumes that it\'s lost, and marks that data set for re-issue.

Don\'t do anything. BOINC will automatically get a new model.
If it hasn\'t then you have a different problem. And there should be message lines in the Messages tab about why.
