Can Win\'98se run Bionic/Climate_Prediction?

I now have an extra Win\'98 Second Edition English version, and wish to run Bionic/Climate_Prediction?

But ClimatePrediction.net don\'t seem to have any software that support Win\'98se anymore?
(I\'ve tried to install the Win\'XP/Win2K version, but don\'t run properly on Win\'98se).

I\'ve already done many ClimatePrediction.net sessions on my other Win\'XP-Pro machine, so is very familiar with this program.

No.
See the \'sticky\' at the top of the Windows section of Questions and answers.

ClimatePrediction.net seems to be forcing me to apply for 2 separate accounts:

-one for Classic Bionic (for my Windows 98se machine)
-one for Bionic (for my Win\'XP-Pro)

Can I just use my Win\'XP-Pro\'s account?
But I cannot register with it for Classic Bioinic--keeps saying no such email address...

They are two totally different projects, which know nothing about each other.

Classic is pre-BOINC. It is what existed at the start of cpdn, before BOINC was created, and is really only of academic interest(1) now, as the slab models it uses are of no further interest to the researchers.

(1) Literally! It only still exists for the Open University course on climate modelling.

Tks again for your very quick reply!

So are you suggesting that it\'s a waste of time to run my Win\'98se computer for Classic, since researchers won\'t be looking at the results?

Tks again in advance for your help & advice!

The results may end up in the pool of data with the nearly 150,000 other results, but they are more interested now in experiment 2, which will soon be released.
(The BBC has already started a version of this.)
No doubt other slab results will slowly show up over the coming months, to also be added to this pool.

Last week, one user finally finished a THC model. Trouble is, that project had finished months ago, and the research paper had been written.

One more thing that I forgot in my previous post, is that, like the BBC models, no credit will accrue in BOINC accounts.
This is because classic cpdn is so different to BOINC cpdn, and, in the case of the BBC project, it\'s only intended to get the public interested in climate modeling.

Perhaps you should use the computer for one of the other projects. I think SETI still supports Win98.

Another solution is to install Linux as a dual-boot.
You\'ll be able to run Cpdn/Boinc,to be credited and to use the same account.
