I get the following error when my dual G4 with MacOs X.4 starts to process.

Tue Dec 27 06:40:35 2005|climateprediction.net|Unrecoverable error for result sulphur_fwns_000742168_0 (<file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_fwns_000742168_0_1.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message></file_xfer_error><file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_fwns_000742168_0_2.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message></file_xfer_error><file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_fwns_000742168_0_3.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message></file_xfer_error><file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_fwns_000742168_0_4.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message></file_xfer_error><file_xfer_error> <file_name>sulphur_fwns_000742168_0_5.zip</file_name> <error_code>-161</error_code> <error_message></error_message></file_xfer_error>)

It then goes trough the process of sending the work as if it was all finished:

Tue Dec 27 06:41:39 2005|climateprediction.net|Sending scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi

Tue Dec 27 06:41:44 2005|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded
Tue Dec 27 06:41:46 2005|climateprediction.net|Started download of sulphur_huxn_000833243.zip
Tue Dec 27 06:41:49 2005|climateprediction.net|Finished download of sulphur_huxn_000833243.zip
Tue Dec 27 06:41:49 2005|climateprediction.net|Throughput 10740 bytes/sec

Does any one have an idea on how I could fix this ?

The libx files are at the right place and i already have been trough the process of erasing the client_state.xml file and nothing seems to fix the problem.

I\'m not familiar with the Mac operating system names and numbers, but on the BOINC download page it says:
> BOINC now works with OS 10.3.0 or higher.

On your computer page it says you are using: Darwin 8.3.0
In your post you say: MacOs X.4
Does this help?

Most of your models seem to have failed at the start, at the same place in the science code.
Error code 161 means BOINC has failed in trying to send the errored files to the server. The files can\'t be sent because they haven\'t been created.

client_state.xml is the file that BOINC uses to tell what it is working on. Erasing it won\'t help. (In any case, at least in Windows, BOINC recreates this file.)

\"Does any one have an idea on how I could fix this ?\"

The only fix for this at the moment, so far as I can see, is to forget that wu and move on to the next one.

The wastage rate of wu\'s on macs is still high i think. Carl has said \"actually for us \"Over\" probably means that we only need one of these results;\" So it may be that you have got a stopped duplicate wu.

You can check that your permissions are correct (Don\'t forget that you have to do this from your install cd useing the disk utility in the drop down menu, for it to be 100% effective.)

If you are useing a router or firewall make sure you have the correct ports set up. Rom walton says Boinc needs the following:
BOINC Manager needs to be able to open outbound connections to either 1043 or 31416.
BOINC Screensaver needs to be able to open outbound connections to either 1043 or 31416.
BOINC needs to open an inbound connection to either 1043 or 31416, and an outbound connection to port 80 for downloads and uploads of workunits, results, and science packages.
BOINC may also need port 43. CPDN Trickle\'s may need https on port 443.

Be aware that you may get upload problems after phase one, the server staus will show that the wu is over, but it will continue to crunch on your machine.

Now that CPDN have a dual G5 with Tiger we can hope to see a resolution of mac problems in the new year, so stay with it.

Les,

Mac OS x is in two flavours Panther which is 10.3.xx and Tiger which is 10.4.xx. They show up on BOINC projects as Darwin X.X.X and as \'Powermac or book . xx as the machine and cpu\'s

btw I like your posts on the mac q & a - good effort. By your interest I think you will be getting a mac in 2006. Happy new year.

It may have been a \"stopped duplicate wu\" because it processed 8hrs last night. I\'ll reply here if it happens again.

I\'ll modify my firewall to use the ports 1043 or 31416 and see if it fixes the problem.

Thanks for the info.
