Hi All
I have a Broadband internet connection with an internal modem as a backup.
After updating to 5.2.2. I get a message saying bionic cannot connect to the internet.

Is there a setting to stop bionic trying to connect through the dialup.

Thanks all
Peter

I don\'t know about bionic, but BOINC, (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing), should use the default connection.
After you upgrade to version 5, you may need to re-introduce BOINC to your firewall. Should be in the firewall settings somewhere, but I haven\'t had to do this yet, so I don\'t know where. And it depends on which firewall you use.

Hi Les

Ok, Problem is that BOINC still connects via broadband through the firewall, It also tries the dialup which at present is not even connected to a phone line. (The line goes to the router).
I was wondering if there is a setting in BOINC to determine connection options.

No idea if this will help but version 5.2.6 available from
Download page

details page says:

Dial-up features now work with all installation types.
The BOINC Manager can now be controlled using only the keyboard.
You attach to projects using your own email address and password. Long, random \'account keys\' are no longer used.
BOINC checks for proxy configuration problems when you first attach to a project.
The file gui_rpc_auth.cfg contains a password that protects the BOINC client from control by other users on the same host. BOINC automatically generates a password if none is found. If you use tools like BOINCView you may need to look it up or change it. If you need to revert from 5.2.x to an earlier version, you must delete gui_rpc_auth.cfg from your BOINC directory.
Alert boxes now provide feedback when certain errors occur.
BOINC supports \'Account Management Systems\' (to be announced)

Hi Peter
You can try going to the connections tab on the options dialog.
Once there you can try \'auto\', \'lan\' or \'dial-up\'.

Perhaps LAN is the one for you?
Sorry, not much knowledge of broadband.
