Now, using such advanced web authoring techniques as Unordered Lists, B.C. BOINC unveils its new, easier to read, less sucky web site!

You can\'t get an education in B.C. right now, so, you might as well contribute to science!

I would like to invite everyone to join the BAUT team. BAUT stands for Bad Astronomy/Universe Today. The team was started by members of the BAUT forum, which is the forum for two separate websites. Bad Astronomy is a site dedicated to correcting misconceptions about astronomy. The other website is Universe Today, which helps keep people interested in astronomy and space flight up-to-date. The site has a newsletter, in daily and weekly forms.

Whether you are interested in the above forum, sites, or just support astronomy, we welcome members to our team.

Hi,

I just wanted to add a few things to azazul\'s post above about the BAUT team. And thanks to Raven for the thread. :)

In addition to climateprediction.net, BAUT has teams for

Einstein@Home
LHC@Home
seti@home
predictor@home
and orbit@home
with rosetta@home possible soon.

Obviously, the emphasis of the BAUT message board is astronomy and space, but with 11,000 members, it has many knowledgeable people who post about general scientific topics, as well as a lively and well-moderated off-topic area.

There are indeed a few climate sceptics who post in the global warming threads, but the discussion is always civil.

So the BAUT team offers a one-stop shop for discussion of team matters, BOINC projects in general, and any topic in science.

If you don\'t care to join the team, but do have an interest in matters astronomical, there\'s no better place on the net than the BAUT forum, in my really biased opinion. :)
Ken

For ANYONE who does not want to get LOST in the shuffle and is interested in joining a SMALL team, give Team Chicopee a chance. We have a usergroup on Google and our webpage is located at Team Chicopee Webpage

You will be known and appreciated on our team. We participate in ALL the Boinc projects and have done so since the Beginning of Boinc. We even put your plaque on our Wall of Fame. We don\'t get in your face like a lot of groups.

Just a small team - Internatioal variety. Has its origins in the American Civil War strategy game by Sid Meier - Gettysburg (which is still played online btw). Join us if you wish whether or not ACW is your bag. We do next to nothing by the way so there are NO demands on members.

Dare I say it? \"Join ESEA (Earth Space Exploration Agency\"? Ups, now I did it. Oh well, go ahead and join us - try clicking on the sig, click Join, then add climateprediction to your project list, then click Join right by climateprediction at the project list - then you\'re with a great team ;)

Team Phoenix Rising was formed by a disenchanted few members from other Teams, realizing that the only way to be in a Team they were happy with was to start a new one.
The name was not chosen, it more or less just happened... the new Team was indeed a Phoenix rising from the ashes and we are proud of our Team.
We have our own forums courtesy of Mincer, where you can drop in for a beer and recant wild stories filled with wondrous exploits, or slide into the Mos Eisley Cantina to talk about total... well, whatever you want. He\'s put a huge amount of effort into getting the forums up & running, and he knows how greatly appreciated it is.
We are a dedicated bunch of crunchers, a lot of us having been in the project from it\'s early stages... so don\'t be shy, drop into the forums and say Hi...

Join Team Phoenix Rising !

Once again, British Columbia makes the headlines for being at the cutting edge of dealing with tough social issues, as shown in this article from News of the Weird:

Andrew Uitvlugt, candidate for mayor of Kelowna, British Columbia, proposed in November to coax drug addicts into public jobs, such as trash collection, by rewarding them with crack cocaine, on the theory that the work would be so fulfilling that they would ultimately decline the drugs. (He finished fourth out of five candidates.) [Calgary Herald, 11-11-05; Vancouver Sun, 11-20-05]
