Been running BOINC for at least a year with SETI and added CPDN in July. Got some results before the version 4.13 errors started crashing all the data. Saw there was a new version, 4.19, out so I re-enabled CPDN and spent 2 1/2 hours (dialup) downloading it and a new WU.
Well, it crashed too. Now I see that there is a version 4.45 (which I got previously from SETI) for Win2K & XP and a 4.43 for Linux/x86. I know this sounds stoopid, but my machine is an x86 (ok, Athlon 2600+ XP) but running lowly Windows 98, not 2K or XP.
Should I even bother downloading the \"new\" version (which I already have), and if so, which one?

As for the crash with the new data, here\'s my log entries.

Win 98 lost support earlier this year. I think it may have been a new compiler not supporting something needed by Win98 to work.

As for Sulphur, it requires BOINC 4.45 because of enhancements.
Also, see this entry in the Wiki.

Classic, (non BOINC), cpdn still works with Win98.
And, when Carl starts work on Monday, he is going to look into why the server is giving Sulphur to old / under powered systems instead of slab models.

Well, my machine isn't underpowered as all the internals have been upgraded. A 2600+ Athlon chip & 1/2 GB of RAM, but the original HDD still had the original Win98 OS so I left it alone. Hadn't been any problems (until now, apparently).

Can Classic still be downloaded or am I S.O.L.? If it can, will it run OK with BOINC? I am running BOINC v.4.45 for SETI, don't see why it won't work for CPDN.

Thanks for the quick answer and thank Carl for me too.

Classic can be downloaded here, but I don't know how it will do trying to run with BOINC running another project.

Any updates on this issue? I tried another WU and got a SC one. It crashed after 2 hours. At least SETI is back up so my CPU cycles aren't going to waste anymore.
