The \"General Preferences\" page has primary preferences and separate preferences for home, work and school.

On the \"Computer Summary\" page it is only possible to select home, work or school as the location.

How is it possible to switch a computer from using one of the secondary preferences back to the primary ones?

No way back ;-)

Only by detaching and attaching again, but I wouldn't do this. You loose all crunching of this machine, you have in local Queue.

It should switch back if you delete the appropriate venue specific preferences. You can also change the venue for the computer to change to a different preference set. Some setting changes require an update and a client restart to take effect. Reducing the number of CPUs may require waiting until all currently active workunits finish.

Detaching and reattaching will not help since the computer will be assigned a venue when the host record is set up.

John, your scenario about preferences change sounds reasonable to me.
Case of reducing the number of CPUs - partially computed WUs will become 'Preemted' and hopefully will continue after 'Running' WU completed and before 'Ready to run' WUs.

I was wondering how that would work with the new CPU sheduler, thanks for filling me in. I forgot to put the disclaimer on this post about the new scheduler.
