I start up my computer this afternoon and BOINC decided that my work unit had ended and began uploading the result. This can\'t be accurate as it was around 10% completed after 50 hours of processing time.

What confuses me is there are no error warnings in the message window, BOINC simply started up and began uploading results as far as I can tell. I don\'t remember a specific problem when shutting down last night, there is a possibility BOINC had to be forcibly shutdown by Windows as that happens occasionally.

In the directory of the old workunit I find an xml file which doesn\'t make much sense to me, and a \"restart.day.zip\" file. The WU\'s id was 02be_100027987. Is this of any use?

I have run into the same problem again, this time after 70 hours of processing. BOINC had trouble closing when I shut my computer down last (the end process dialogue briefly showed up). Now I boot it up again, BOINC tells me the WU is completed and ready to send.

I have read that BOINC is very touchy about overclocking, this time my system has been running with a 10% overclocked bus (184mhz) - although this isn't enough to cause hadsm to crash (185mhz gives a crash within seconds unless I feed the cpu more voltage). I'm not convinced this is the source of the problem, as the first time I had this problem my system wasn't overclocked at all.

Is there any way I can get more info from my system as to why it breaks, and ideally any way to stop it happening :) As an aside, is there any way of saving the 'state' of a clients model, I had thought maybe creating a backup/restore point after every 24hrs of processing could be handy for situations like this, although would it require an extra 400mb of drive space to store the info?

Looking at the failed WU's online they both ended with an error code of -5.
