Today I attached several maschines to CPDN.

After each box has downloaded one WU, the WUs started crunching normal. After 1 - 2 minutes, I have restarted the boxes.

Now I see on WEB-Page:

Exit-code -185 (0xffffff47)
validate state: INVALID

<a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=8875">http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=8875</a>
<a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=8960">http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=8960</a>
<a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=9006">http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=9006</a>
<a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=9029">http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=9029</a>

All machines have crunched successful Seti and Predictor under BOINC.

On the machines, all looks fine. They seem to crunch fine.

What shall I do ? Ignore the INVALID-Status on WEB-Page or reset project ?

Hi, Yeti,

Are machines that ran those Models overclocked? If so, that could be the problem.

A year, plus, experience with the CPDN client proved time after time that an OC'd machine that handled shorter applications without problems could die with the very long, very demanding, CPDN Model. (One of the machines is at the low end (gray area) of machines capable of running CPDN, at least in the 'classic' non-boinc environment -- and perhaps also in boinc.)

HTH.

You did uninstall the 3.xx client and install the 4.02 client on all those machines? Did you also detach from Seti &amp; Predictor?

All my machines are NOT overclocked. I don't like overclocking.

I didn't uninstall the client 3.20 / 3.22; I just installed over the existing one.

And the projects Seti and Predictor are all still attached (they have been resetted from change of major client)

EDITED: The machines seem to trickle fine ? !

that's a BOINC error -- "ERR_RESULT_START" -- which I've seen happen when it didn't download all of the CPDN files required. Can you look in your projects/climate* directory and see what is there?

Carl,

one of this boxes seems to run not very well. It is a P4 with 2,6 GHz, 1 GB memory. Take a look on the trickles and you will see, that the trickles look very strange:

Time Sent (UTC) Phase Timestep CPU Time (sec) Average (sec/TS)
16 Aug 2004 13:54:03 1 21604 60925 2.8200
17 Aug 2004 01:25:44 1 10802 99915 9.2500
16 Aug 2004 04:49:56 1 10802 30112 2.7900

This is the result: <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=9006">http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=9006</a>

EDIT: My boxes are not overclocked ...

Carl,

it looks, as if all 4 WUs, I told above, have been rescheduled to be sent out again. So, should I reset the project on related clients ?

Carl,

after thinking some hours about the rescheduled WUs, I think, I should reset the related clients and finish this thread.
