Seti@home and BOINC conflict

(OK, ATM not a very good idea, but I hope from thursday (8.Feb.05) on it will be more fun again, when the server problems have been fixed.) I also think that the fora over there are more informative about that than the other;-) AFAIR from some perifer browsed forum topics, they don't like each other, but I can't tell you from experience, as I started with Boinc, so no old stuff interfering. After booting, Seti@Home uses up all CPU-time, just like on your machine. I found out that when I exit Seti@Home and restart it, it now only uses half of the CPU-time with the other half going to BOINC. My guess is that it might be an issue with which software starts first. Maybe that works for you, too. (But I am in the process of switching completely to BOINC anyway. After <i>Switch between applications every</i> minutes BOINC will check which project is behind in the percentage calculated from the <i>ressource share</i> values and - if necessary - will switch over to that project. So if you have SETI set to 50 and CPDN to 100, in average 2 out of 3 hours will go to CPDN, the third will go to SETI. _________ If your SETI is Classic and not SETI@BOINC : It makes not much sense to run them at the same time on a single CPU machine without HyperThreading.
