I just received a message from the server that a new version of the BOINC core client is now available. Should I upgrade now even though I'm in the middle of my CP project?

There are some minor improvements in the new version, but it is not essential to install it. There will be a bigger upgrade at some time in the next few weeks.

That said, using the most up to date public and stable version is generally a good idea. To update, suspend BOINC and then exit the program. Make a backup copy of the entire BOINC folder. Then install the new version over the top of the old version. You should then be able to continue where you left off.

This way, if something does go wrong with the upgrade you should be able to take advantage of the backup and the risk of losing the model should be minimal.

Hello Andree,

if you just participate in CPDN, leave it as it is. Never change a running system;-)

If you want to participate in other projects as well, like <a href="http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/index.php">Seti</a>, <a href="http://predictor1.scripps.edu/">Predictor</a>, <a href="http://athome.web.cern.ch/athome/">LHC</a> or <a href="http://www.physics2005.org/events/einsteinathome/index.html">Einstein</a> (the last two currently not with work/accounts), you may have to change.

I had no problems with my update to 4.19, the current official Boinc core client.

Grüße vom Sänger

Also just noticed the message on my BOINC screen. Suspended and exited BOINC, applied the update and restarted in a couple of minutes. No problems.
