Windows Xp Home Edition

Hi, i have a new Dell 4700 when i run 'CP' the operating system goes wild it's like i'm going round the screen at very high speed clicking difrent mouse buttons it opens files and applications refeshes the screen ext.
I have no control over the mouse but with persistance can focuse on my control bar which by this time is at the top of the screen and fills half the screen and shut bring up the BIONC control window control seems to return then.
On surpending BIONC operation the machine returns to normal but display settings and mouse settings where altered infornt of my eyes and there was nothing i could do to stop it, change them back manually.
I would be very greatful if you could tell me what is happening as i know how to fix it suspend BIONC then it is ok until i reboot.

Don't really know, but I would try...

If hooked up to a KVM switch, try hooking the mouse up directly to the USB/PS2 part

Load a specific mouse driver for the mouse (microsoft/logitech) if the mouse is just one of those rebranded to Dell

Load the latest video drivers for your video card.


The only time I've seen what you have there is with a KVM switch, and that was in Linux. Very frustrating.

Aprechate your reply the dell came with USB mouse but have swopped it for my Tracker-ball which plugs into the conversional socket.
I'm not a big mouse pearson as i fined them harder to use but did replace it with the orginal mouse to USB/PS2 that it was originally into but the problem remained.

If you haven't already, if there was some special drivers/software that you installed with the trackball, make sure it is uninstalled. It sounds like some corrupt drivers, except I don't know why it would only show up when you are running your CPU at 100%.

I am no expert but it definitly sounds like some sort of driver conflict between your mouse and something. Do things go crazy when you try to view the visualization? Now that I think of it CP uses openGL (I think) for the visualizations, maybe try updating the drivers for the Mouse and video card, or if MS just kindly updated things for you maybe try going back to the last version of the drivers. With a little searching around on this or the other forum you should be able to find out what is used for the visualizations and ensure that the latest version is installed.

EDIT: Just notcied the post a couple down "Got problems, may have the answer here". Maybe the drivers that are pointed to could help.
