I have recently updated my PC and thought it was a simple thing to reinstall and run boinc again. Whoops first mistake! I have reinstalled and managed after much hassle to get SETI running but it will not let me attach climate prediction. It keeps saying ''Boinc can't get main page for htt[://climateprediction.net please check the URL and start again''
HELP!!!
Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong.

It could be a error in the entry for that page. Is it typed as in your message? There's a mistake in the 4th character which should be p not [.

Is there a white space or other character before or after the entry? It may not be obvious. Try pasting again from the notification email.

I think I have solved the prolem Boinc version 4.13 does not work, don't update to this version. I found a copy of an older version and this seems to work. Have installed that instead. The 4th character was a typo on this forum. Thanks for your help.

I'm glad you have got BOINC to work, but most people have found that 4.13 is the most stable version and and contains a number of bug fixes. I don't know when the next major upgrade is due. It is true though that some have experienced problems on upgrading.

Not much help now but in the future try to save the account*.xml files to disk before you wipe everything. Put them in the new BOINC directory before running BOINC for the first time. This will automatically attach to the projects without having to worry about typos or even if the servers are up at that time.
