I have CP 4.09 running on Windows XP Professional. The computer is shared by two different users. I can run the program OK and get the graphics display initially. However, after several CPU hours of run time, both graphics displays go to black and there is nothing I can do to bring the display back. The program itself seems to be running OK. Any suggestions as to what I can do to bring the displays back?

Check your power settings in control panel. Your monitor may switch off after a few hours. Set it to never.

That does not seem to answer the question - if this was the problem, then how would he know that it was still working properly?

I have the same problem on ONE of three machines that I am running. The other 2 pop up the screensaver and graphics just fine. I set the power options to turn the screen off after 1 hour, but that never kicks in on any of the 3 computers.

So the question is still outstanding.

It's not a good idea to display graphics all the time.
Depending on your graphics card, it can take up quite a lot of processing power, and there have been a lot of messages about display problems.
You can see if the program is running by right-clicking the BOINC icon in the system tray -->SHOW -->work.
