do you have firewall software on? I imagine since uploads go to different servers there could be trouble with BOINC sending on port 80 to these servers?

You will want to make sure you can get to the following servers through your firewall:

I had the same problem !

I have a HTTP-proxyserver in my configuration. I have no problem with all other projects or websites and with the download of climate, but the upload for the climate-prediction project seems to be different. My proxy server is a old squid 2.4.STABLE7 .

I see the connection in the logfile of my firewall to "cpdn-upload1.comlab.ox.ac.uk" on port 80 and it seems to be o.k.. No access will be denied on my firewall.
In the proxyserver logfile i see 2 connections with returnstatus 200 and after 2 seconds the next 2 connections with error-status 413, but i don't know why !


If it is possible for you, change your config and go directly, without a proxy, to the internet and it will work.
This is a nice workaround, but for many of the users, impossible.

The server in Switzerland (Bern -- phkup21.unibe.ch) is down for maintenance, but your BOINC client (if it is trying to go there) will retry and it will eventually go through.

Is there a way to check that I'm using the server from Bern?

Same problem here with WU 1xvl_100111484. Since yesterday, my laptop is unable to upload results. I am not able to connect to phkup21.unibe.ch. All others servers seems OK.

I have this problem as well only on one machine, with or without firewall enabled.
I can get through to all except phkup21.unibe.ch

I am also having no luck uploading the results of my first BOINC model run. It's been trying for about a day and a half with no luck. There are no firewall issues. (I can get through to port 80 on all except the .ch server.)

I'm based on the east coast of the US, if that might be a factor.

I have no firewall software installed and Windows brandmauer is off.
I tried:
telnet [CLIMATE_SERVER] 80
so phkup21.unibe.ch didn't answer but all another does,
Maybe i should configure boinc client to upload to another server not phkup21.unibe.ch - manually?

Hi Carl,

I'm still having difficulties uploading. I promised a friend this computer two days ago and for the past two days I've been waiting for this WU to upload so I can give him the computer. Any chance of this being fixed soon? I dont wanna loose the result, but I cant hold off much longer before wiping the hard drive...

it should be on one of the BOINC .xml config files which uploader this workunit is going to. If it's Bern-Switzerland I will email them and see what is the problem and hopefully it will be up soon. I don't think with BOINC you can change upload servers after the face because of the upload key used etc.

yeah that's the problem --- this server is still down.

I too have a completed unit which is failing to upload, it also is apparently set to the swiss server.

Any ETA on when things might be moving? I'm rebuilding/upgrading the affected client in the next few days and dont want to lose the end result of over 470 hours of work.

The university home page is now back so they seem to be making progress. You must rely on the fabled Swiss efficiency :)

Hmm... Still no go on the server. My WU is also stuck in limbo.

I haven't heard back from the sysadmin of the server in Switzerland which is down, I will post here when it is back up. BOINC should "cycle" back trying to uploadand the result will eventually most likely go through within a few days or a week.

I now have two stalled uploads awaiting return of the Swiss server - pity there isn't some way to change the upload server under BOINC.

I hope this server is back in service fairly soon - I have a total of 6 models here that are either already stalled or due to upload within a week that will all attempt to upload to the Swiss server. That 6 seems to be quite a high proportion out of the 12 models here. :? (10 running & 2 stalled uploading.)

Hey the what - at least CP-boinc gets on with the next model whilst waiting. ;-)
