My CP.net project directory is currently about 120MB while I have over 20GB physically available and designated for use in the general preferences for my location (work). Yet, when the CP Boinc client connects, the reply from the servers reads \"No work available (there was work but you don\'t have enough disk space allocated)\".

I obviously have more than adequate system resources, but something in configuration is confusing the server. Any suggestions? I am well away from all the possible limits set by the resource parameters in preferences.

What do you have for the following two entries in your General Preferences?

Leave at least
Use no more than

If you allow 20 GB, I would think one of the above two preferences might be overriding that somehow.

In addition to Geophi's suggestion you need to consider your relative resource shares if you're running multiple projects as they also control how much of the disk space available to BOINC they're allowed to use. CDPN needs to have around 700MB available to it before it'll download a workunit.

I am using settings 'leave at least' = 1GB and 'Use no more than 50% of total space'. Even if you calculate the resource share of CP.net as 1/3 of total, that still leaves me with well more than a few GBs just for CP.net. My device actually has 46GB of free space - and I keep wondering when the Boinc clients will use more of it. Incidentally, in playing with my settings to get this machine going again, the choice of location in preferences for this computer will not stick.

Thank you for your help.

It occurs to me that 50% of 46Gb is 23GB but you have used 26Gb of your disc. BOINC shouldn't work like that and other have suggested that it cannot be working like that or else they would not have got any work. Still it seems worth trying an increase in the 50% to see if it will then download some work.

Edit: oops sorry misread your earlier post(it is 46Gb free space not total space). May still be worth a try though.

Go to General Preferences and change;

#Use no more than % of total space

Just leave it blank and only set;

#Use no more than GB
#Leave at least GB

I had this problem due to running BOINC on a 20GB partition and it appears as if the % value overides the set GB value.
