Hehe, Julian,

you do more then installing a new graphics driver. The message show BOINC starts with release 3.20 and find a Client 4.03 CPDN project. :o

So between the restarts you change the client. May be to many gambling around with both releases let some different folders stay on your harddisk and you got up the wrong.

And if the the major release change, the current project is resetted and all WU's and results still on the client are lost. And after this you can not get new WU's because you have the wrong (old 3.20 release) client for CPDN and the server will give you no new work. :(

Possible except I have removed 3.2 from this machine before this happened. However, I suppose I could reinstall Boinc again just in case I have done something daft?

yeah something looks odd with this:

>>Starting BOINC client version 3.20 for windows

I don't think it would like anything about CPDN/BOINC since we rely on a lot of new stuff in 4.02.

Which is a little misleading version # since it's been on 4.02 for the last week or two -- it's really the "4.02" since the 3rd August "check-in" of CVS at the boinc.berkeley.edu site.

I just had the same think but found my mistake. When I installed the 4.02 client, I installed to a different directory but didn't correct the shortcut I'd added to my startup folder. When I rebooted, it started version 3.18 which failed the 'master file fetch' and showed no workunit. I exited it, corrected the link and started up 4.02. It's runing again now with no lost work.

phew...
