22) Message boards : Number crunching : Corrupted database (Message 22456)
Posted 28 Apr 2006 by KWSN Sir Clark
Post:
I see my own profile when I go to climateprediction.net, but I am having another problem since the fix of the corrupted database. Anytime I try to connect I get the following message:
04/27/06 06:19:23|climateprediction.net|Sending scheduler request to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
04/27/06 06:19:23|climateprediction.net|Reason: Requested by user
04/27/06 06:19:23|climateprediction.net|(not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks)
04/27/06 06:19:27|climateprediction.net|Scheduler request succeeded
04/27/06 06:19:27|climateprediction.net|You are using the wrong URL for this project
04/27/06 06:19:27|climateprediction.net|The correct URL is http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/
04/27/06 06:19:27|climateprediction.net|Detach this project, then reattach to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/

I don\'t want to lose the data on my currently running project...is there any way to detach while keeping my data?

Weird...restarting BOINC seems to have fixed this problem. Problem solved!

I\'m getting the same except it says the correct URL is http://climateprediction.net

I hope people aren\'t detaching because of this thinking it\'s another bug otherwise lots of data could be lost. As it happened after a trickle message that succeeded I\'m going to ignore it as I\'m only three trickles into the model.

Please don\'t tell me I have to start all over again
23) Message boards : Number crunching : Fixed WU running faster (Message 22174)
Posted 18 Apr 2006 by KWSN Sir Clark
Post:
I was just looking at my new WU and noticed that\'s it\'s running about 0.3 s/TS faster than the dodgy one.

I\'ve done nothing to the PC and it\'s working under exactly the same conditions (just BOINC nothing else running apart from AV and Firewall)

Interesting.........

Post:
I thought the idea of BOINC was you can crunch multiple projects but just attaching and then leaving it be.

I can\'t be bothered doing backups etc. Knowing my luck I\'d forget to backup.

If the next WU fails, I\'m gonna stop crunching CPDN until a new app. is released.

Phew, thought it was just me.....

Not had much luck at all with CPDN.........haven\'t finished a WU yet for various reasons.
26) Questions and Answers : Windows : BOINC 5.2.2 released (Message 16692)
Posted 20 Oct 2005 by KWSN Sir Clark
Post:
So far I have found two problems with this 5.2.2 release:
- There is no Hide function on the menu. I can merely minimize it to the taskbar, but not hide it to the systray. I find this a bit annoying.
- The \'To completion\' time is incorrectly calculated. I have currently 23.43% progress on a sulphur cycle, with 497 hours crunched. \'To completion\' shows 2,656 hours, which is 125%, according to my calculation. The progress percentage is the same as with 4.45, but the \'To completion\' was a lot less (like 1,950 hours).

I found when changing to 5.2.2 that while the time taken remained the same, the time to completion dropped by 100 hours - must be a better estimating device in there somewhere.

It\'s in the PHP sources on the server, nothing we could fix.

I guess, it came from mixing two BOINC versions on the server. The newer ones need more includes, those includes used to be combined in one file before but have been separated later.

I get:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: imageantialias() in /websites/boinc/projects/cpdnboinc/html/inc/image.inc on line 32

My image meets all the criteria - it\'s 100x100 and 2.82KB (4 on disk)

29) Questions and Answers : Preferences : SETI and CPDN Ressource share (Message 16103)
Posted 18 Sep 2005 by KWSN Sir Clark
Post:
If you have a sulfur cycle model it may cause the client to go into EDF mode or no work fetch, due to tighter deadlines. In either case it will adjust by not downloading another CPDN model for some time after it finishes the current one.

John, you got me wrong. Seti does not download any new WU\'s , although queue is empty. CDPN model\'s due date is August 2006, so there is plenty of time to finish and no need for \"panic mode\" as I see it. Seti and CPDN get both 50% of CPU cycles, but Seti does not fill up it\'s queue again, after it run dry.

Check your messages tab. If the computer is overcommitted it suspends the work-fetch until it feels there is enough time to complete the work.

I\'ve currently got the following:
18/09/2005 16:03:17||Suspending work fetch because computer is overcommitted.
18/09/2005 16:06:04|rosetta@home|Message from server: No work sent
18/09/2005 16:06:04|rosetta@home|Message from server: (won\'t finish in time) Computer on 77.3% of time, BOINC on 94.3% of that, this project gets 9.1% of that
18/09/2005 16:06:05|rosetta@home|Deferring communication with project for 1 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds

Check to see if you get that....if you do you could try increasing the SETI resource share to assign it more time.

30) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Processor Usage problems do not change (Message 16007)

I\'m trying to update my processor usage so the preference is to work only when the computer is idle.

I click on the No button under \"Do work while computer is in use?\" and it changes as it should but when I click to update my preferences, I get the message that the preferences have been updated but the setting still says Yes

Just checked on Boincstats.

My CPID is wrong on my account page here but all my projects with the correct credits etc. including CPDN appear on my BOINCstats graphic.

All the projects I crunch for have the same cross-project ID apart from CPDN....is there some reason why???

And how do I go about getting it changed. I use the same email address for all projects.
