1) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : Not getting new tasks (Message 68972)

Post:
Signed up again after upgrading to BOINC version 7.20.5 (x64) and wsWidgets Version 3.2.0. The problem is after many attempts, there are no new tasks being sent. Another point is why an hour for deferred communication? Everything seems to be normal on my end. I did not find any indication that there were no new tasks, but perhaps I do not know where to look.

2) Questions and Answers : Unix/Linux : Server Status Unavailable (Message 55334)

I apologize for the late reply, but I have been very busy.

I found that accessing the server status webpage usually succeeded when I used the link on the home webpage and have not tried a direct link since finding this work-around. While testing I tried the direct link, which failed, then the link from the home webpage, which succeeded. I believe that the home webpage sets a cookie that the server status webpage requires.

you will need 32bit libraries

Thank you for the link. I finally had a chance to view it. I never installed or deleted an i386 package. When I install a new package, I try to make sure to install the dbg and doc packages. Adding the i386 packages should not be any more trouble. The problem will be to find and install missing dbg, doc, and i386 packages for previously installed packages.

https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/server_status.php does not seem to be available. I have not been able to view the server status webpage for quite a while.

Having mentioned BOINC/dev reminds me that there's been some recent posts there about problems with the latest version of Ubuntu

Off topic: Mint depends heavily on Ubuntu and there have been quite a few things that have gone wrong. LibreOffice: I had to go to a pre-release for the fix. There is a lot of activity on that topic. Synaptic was impacted to a lesser degree in that it functions, but the filters do not always work properly, leaving out some entries that should have been included. I do not know for sure that the BOINC Manager was adversely effected, but since it fixed itself, the probability is that it was not, at least in any major way. I suspect that some parameter did not properly install during the previous boot.

Thank you for you assistance, it is greatly appreciated.

Fixing this is DIY

The problem fixed itself. I turned off the computer while I was away and when I returned and booted it up, there were a couple of boot time errors. Seems that plymouthd was the problem. The upside is that when the boinc manager started, it was connected to local host. Yes, the project and the task were still there. The task is running as I type this. I hate problems that solve themselves as they tend to recur. Now off to the Mint site to find out if I can remove plymouth as, in my not so humble opinion, it is not essential.

I am totally lost. How do I reconnect? What command? Where and how do I apply the command? That which is available in the graphical user interface does not have an option for a port.

Got it in one. The only problem is that when I attempt to connect to localhost, an error message says that the BOINC Manager crashed three times in two minutes and the connection fails. I checked on the Berkley site, the Oxford site, and synaptic and all the versions are the same.

It would seem that whatever changed in the OS upgrade that caused LibreOffice to malfunction is also causing a malfunction in the BOINC Manager. I am unable to add a project.

My problem is a bit different. I was having a problem with a program and I paused the one task and paused the project and exited the BOINC Manager as I was required to reboot before testing the solution. When the solution tested good, I started the BOINC Manager and nothing was there. The project and the task were gone. What, if anything, do I need to do to reconnect the project and recover the task? Do I need to report to someone if I am unable to recover the task?
