I can only speak for myself, but I have at least a 80% success rate. Prehaps you've just been unlucky or maybe you need to adjust your settings, but you certainly won't improve the situation by giving up...

Hi Jim,

Sorry, I mean\'t an increase in the speed as shown in my link, from 0.97 to around 0.87 T/s. The computation is speeding up. But yes I suppose you could call it a decrease as well...you can tell I\'m no scientist :)
As shown by the trickles, this started at the beginning of phase two, or to be precise, a minute before the second trickle was due to be uploaded.

Hi
One of my models has turned into an iceworld. The speed of T/S has actually increased by around one second:

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=11268403

I\'m quite happy to let it run if its going to be of use.

FWIW, I snoozed then exited Boinc to unistall avast anti virus and install Microsoft security essentials. It was after the restart I noticed the change.

Is it worth keeping?

Too much errors with 6.02, 1.1x on beta was better. My daily quota of 4 is reached :(

It doesn\'t look too good. Both my models crashed, and according to the project stats, no computers have returned any results.
I\'d love to hear to the contrary :)

I really haven\'t a clue whats going on with the internal links on this forum, but my last post refers to a member called \"marquexa\".
When I click on my link I get \"dolce\". I\'m confused, as the link is the same as in my original post.

Free Image Hosting by ImageBam.com

FWIW,the clickable \"this post\" url tags also didn\'t work for me.

Jeez, you wouldn\'t think I\'ve been on line for the better part of 15 years given the state of my posts :)

Thanks for the rely Mo.v - its more laziness than ignorance when it comes to formatting posts. I\'ll make them clickable in the future though.

Just to say http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1001846 has wasted over twenty more WU since I pointed him out in my last post on this thread.

I do know your busy, and I don\'t won\'t to nag, but I thought it worth mentioning.:)

A few more :

The first computer seems to have 60 wu in progress and the rest detached.

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_host_detail.php?hostid=1040010

There seem to a lot of crunchers who only have downloaded say 10 or less WU, but all have failed. Do you want us to report these as well? This one for example:

Here are three that seem to guzzle WU.

Thanks - I\'d already caught one of those but not the other two, and they have now been dealt with. If the max_results_day is set to \"-1\" then it means that they\'ve been done. When they\'re fixed I\'ll set that back to a proper value.

Thanks for the info. Last 5 for today.

Thanks for the report, Conan. If you look at the web page for any of those computers you\'ll see that it\'s now allowed -1 tasks per day ie nothing.

You\'d think that occasionally there\'d be a forum post saying: I\'ve received an email from CPDN saying my computer\'s misconfigured, so what should I do? But I\'ve never seen a post like that.

Why not sticky a thread where vigilant crunchers can report \"out of control computers\"?

I check my progress more or less everyday so it would be no great effort.

Can anyone tell me what the various model names mean? E.g. HADCM3 I believe the CM means coupled model, but again, what does that mean?

14) Questions and Answers : Windows : An extra model? (Message 37517)
Posted 20 Jul 2009 by old_user5681
Post:
I have only ever crunched one model at a time as I simply don't have the processing power to crunch anymore than one.

So last week Boinc tried, and after a couple of failed attempts, suceeded in getting more work. Now, according to my "tasks" webpage I am now crunching one (8797352), with a second model also "in progress" (9122552).

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?userid=5681

As the second model is not showing on my boinc manager, I presume I never downloaded it in the first place.
Any ideas on what I should do, or just simply let it time out in the middle of next year.

Thanks

How is your system performing now?

No problems at all. The following model is crunching as expected, consuming between 5 to 600mb of disk space.

The only setting I changed previous to the large increase in disk space use, was to disallow any "new tasks".

I did allocate 100GB of disk space for Boinc in my prefrences, so maybe I shouldn't have been surprised.

Thanks for the info. I removed a few old folders and then restarted, whereupon the model abruptly finished and uploaded what it had (not much in the 15sec upload time).
I presume the model crashed although the webpage says "client detached". I've unistalled, downloaded the latest version and I'm starting again :)

cheers

Hi

I have just noticed the total space boinc is using totals over 3gb and rising. The largest folder is "dataout" folder at 2.68GB.
Located here - the model I'm crunching now.

C:BOINC Data->projects->climateprediction.net->hadam3p_nhpg....->dataout

I've searched the forums with no luck. I'm going to exit boinc for now as the amount of diskspace its eating up is growing by the minute. It was 2.99GB half an hour ago, it is now 3.15GB..

Any ideas?

Thanks

Post:
If it keeps crashing each time the backup is restored, then you could try an older backup. However, the model didn\'t get very far, so it might make sense to abandon it.

Thanks, I replied at the same time you edited your post. I\'ll think I\'ll give up and \"allow new tasks\". Start a fresh :)

Cheers

Keep going with it.

But there is nothing happening...its uploaded what it had and detached. There is no work being done. Heres a screenshot.

Its not that important, I find Boinc confusing at the best of times, it was probably my error.

Thanks anyway

A few months back I had a HADCM model that crashed, and was part way through the next model when I posted this:

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=6431

Well the good news is I finished the HADCM after using the backups twice, but when I tried to get the HADAM going again it seems to have detached itself.

Did I do something wrong? Can I re-attach? I\'ll wait for an answer before I start my next download. Thanks.
