Looks like I lost one of those files on Day 12;

17/06/2009 12:00:36 PM climateprediction.net Started upload of hadam3p_mwsa_1997_2_006074684_3_3.zip
17/06/2009 12:00:41 PM climateprediction.net [error] Error reported by file upload server: no command
17/06/2009 12:00:41 PM climateprediction.net Giving up on upload of hadam3p_mwsa_1997_2_006074684_3_3.zip: permanent upload error

(Times above are UTC-4)

I thought I had a couple more days as mo.v said
Its PSU failed on Friday 5 June, so the 2-week BOINC time limit for retrying failed uploads won't be reached until Friday 19 June

It is no longer in my transfer tab and the work unit is no longer on my task list but I did get these messages a few hours later ...

17/06/2009 7:54:16 PM climateprediction.net Reporting 1 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks
17/06/2009 7:56:23 PM Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
17/06/2009 7:56:24 PM Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
17/06/2009 7:56:26 PM climateprediction.net Scheduler request failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer
17/06/2009 7:57:26 PM climateprediction.net Sending scheduler request: To send trickle-up message.
17/06/2009 7:57:26 PM climateprediction.net Reporting 1 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks
17/06/2009 8:00:01 PM climateprediction.net Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks

I will suspend the next one before it finishes but where do we stand currently with the server issues here at CPDN?

Edit: ... I have to learn to read the News and Announcement Thread first!

... so I can not suspend network activity.
Maybe, suspend CPDN at all and wait?

That is what I did. I suspended CPDN all together and let the extra processor time work on my other project. I have had 2 files awaiting transfer for about 7 or 8 days now and now notice that one of the two got though at 06:14:34 AM my time (UTC-4)today but the other file has yet to transfer. Im not sure I want to mess with the client_state.xml so if I lose this wu so be it. Ill keep the project suspended until the server/storage problems are corrected then go back to the wu's I already have. Im sure it will get corrected but a few work units may be lost.

Thanks, Mo.
The current situation is that there is apparently some money that I can spend, and I have a quote for a suitable server, but before I can send the order I require a signature on a form. When I will be able to get that is at present unknown. Usually, orders for servers take about a week once sent.

Unfortunately, switching uploads to other systems isn't a possibility at the moment as there isn't enough space anywhere.

Ideally I would like to have new servers in place before we run out of space, but managing to secure money in time to do so is very difficult.

Thanks for the Update.

I appreciate the work you guys do and can imagine the bureaucratic layers that must be gone through in order get the job done.

Happy Paper pushing until the "real work" can continue

What about the deadline? Did i waste some hours?

Im not sure the deadline matters to much. From what I understand Boinc will continue to try to upload for 14 days before giving up on the unit.

In the News and Announcements Thread it states;

"we've had another server (uploader1.atm) suffer a power supply failure and another (uploader.oerc) is short on space as well. I've already taken steps to rectify all these problems but it's likely to be quite slow and I expect at least a week before I can receive any new servers and Tuesday until a replacement power supply arrives."

If all gets fixed within that 14 day window we should all be able to upload our files.

Correct me if Im wrong on that anyone.

Edit: Beat me to it Les

OK, good.
Thanks Rick.

I was concerned about the location in relation to the signed area.
If it was inside that, it would mean that it couldn't be altered. But it can.

So, I think the thing now is to wait for Tuesday, to see what happens at Oxford.

I'm going to hide your reply to keep the signed part hidden. Just in case. :)

Ok thanks. Not sure what or that signed area is ... or what it does ... or ...

Ill assume you know best. lol

Will wait for Tuesday and let you know what happens.

I have 2 files in limbo awaiting the problems (read in News and Announcements) to be corrected. I cant really suspends Boinc network activity as my other projects wu's are completed very often. I've suspended CPDN so as to not cause more hammering off the "non existent" server but what do I do about these 2 that are trying to upload other than terminating boincs network activity?

Looks Like I have an Ice world. All Blue on the graphics and occured within the last 24 to 48 hrs.

A link to the model/ResultID webpage

- Task ID is number 7776737

A current timestep of that model (on the globe graphic)

- Time step is 08 08 1830

The s/TS value (on the globe graphic. Remember, you can hit the Z key while viewing the globe and it will give you this additional text/status information.)

- 1.67

Whether the temperature display of the globe graphic is blue.

- Temperature Display is Blue in the -30 to - 36 range

What your processor/CPU and Operating System is (i.e. Intel or AMD on Windows or Linux)

- Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00 GHz, 2.00 GB RAM on Windows Vista

Whether you are overclocking.

- No Oveclocking.

Should this model be continued or aborted?
