I know this WU failed because BOINC switched projects while it was trying to do post processing:

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=9616085

However this WU failed without any reason I can find just yet:

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?resultid=10415116

My Primegrid WU\'s around the time were unaffected which rules out processor problems and the NFS WU in memory survived which rules out a lack of available memory (since NFS is very sensitive to memory issues). None of the other 15 projects showed any issues whatsoever, just the CPDN WU. It had jumped to 100% sometime while I was gone, but was still \'Waiting to Run\'. I caught it before it restarted and changed the \'waiting\' to \'computer error\'. The graphics listed it as being at only 71% (despite the 100% given in the BOINC manager) and the temps had gone blue.

Later edit: Mary, I see that in your profile notes you said the create/edit profile page is buggy. If you can remember what the problem was we may be able to ask Milo to fix it.

The create/edit profile page has an issue where the entry prompt shows up twice if you scroll down (as in you see what looks to be a normal page, but when you scroll down, the entire page repeats itself once more below). I also ran into an issue where entering text into only one of the two prompts did not edit the profile. I had to enter the same text into both to get it to work. I don't know if others have this problem or not.

Oy Trekmaster,

Don't despair just yet. It is possible to run these models on a Celeron, but you have to have a lot of patience. This will probably make the moderators cry, but I'm running a HadCM3 (one of the buggy 6.02s by the way) on a Celeron M 1.40 GHz laptop with 504 MB of memory (not upgradeable) and it is still going. I'm down to only 4.43 s/Ts by doing the following: switching my screensaver to 1 minute and blank when not in use, not running too many other projects alongside, and shutting down extra processes that my computer doesn't need to be running. If you shutdown all of the outside junk that's running on your computer it helps a lot not just with running the model, but with the speed of the thing overall, as well.

Here\'s a copy of an email I received from the American Astronomical Society just in case anyone else is interested in participating. My dot is already on the map for tonight.

SHED LIGHT ON LIGHT POLLUTION! JOIN THE GLOBE AT NIGHT CAMPAIGN, 16-28 MARCH!

More than one-fifth of the world population, two-thirds of the United
States population and one half of the European Union population are
unable to see the stars in our Milky Way galaxy arch across a
pristinely dark sky. With half the world\'s population now living in
cities, this problem is only getting worse. Yet you can easily be part
of a local solution to a global problem.

Shed light on light pollution! Take a few minutes to monitor your
local night sky brightness, place your measurement on-line noting your
location, date and time and within a few weeks see a map of light
pollution levels worldwide.

Be part of the \"GLOBE at Night\" citizen-science campaign and make a
world of difference! The GLOBE at Night campaign runs March 16-28,
2009. Help preserve our natural heritage for generations to come. Find
out more information at the GLOBE at Night web site
(www.globe.gov/GaN). GLOBE at Night is an official International Year
of Astronomy Dark Skies Awareness cornerstone project.

projects and the effects of light pollution, visit the links on

I\'m currently running 64bit Vista Home Premium on one of my computers and it works just fine. Everything downloads the same as it does on my computer with a 32bit OS. You don\'t have to do anything special.

As with tullio, I\'ve seen this spam message by pharrg popping up across multiple projects. He just posts the same message over and over again without any regard to whether Cuda is feasible for that project or not. I wouldn\'t pay him any heed.
