There is a very long deadline, which is pretty much ignored by CPDN anyway - so just ignore it. Wish I had known...was forced offline last summer/autumn for an extended period and aborted a completed work unit out of ignorance. (not sure if it was a phase or an entire run. Threw away a lot of credits! Thanks for the best wishes on my renovations. Although I do this for a living, I\'m gonna need it. |

Posted 23 Apr 2010 by old_user521524 Post: I am planning some extensive home remodeling in the near future and may be forced to be offline for up to 3mos. I had thought to download some of the longer running work units and allow them to crunch during this time. As they will not be able to trickle, will this cause any reporting problems upon the resumption of internet service? Disk space will not be a problem. Using v6.10.43. Thanks in advance. |

Bonus Credits

Posted 5 May 2009 by old_user521524 Post: The only people giving it thought are those that think it would be a quick way to boost their credit rating. Don't agree that it would be a "quick" way to boost credit (at least not on my boxes) but respect your stance on this issue. Thanks for your quick response. |

Bonus Credits
(Message 36858)
Posted 4 May 2009 by old_user521524 Post: CPDN can't do anything that would make us unpopular with other projects, or that other projects would consider an unfair advantage. There are stats freaks who compare the credits for different projects and post about it. Carl (in Oxford) did once mention your bonus idea, so this has been considered and, I'm afraid, rejected. It has been two years since previous post. Has any thought been given to perhaps granting bonus credits for completed climate models? This would encourage the "stats freaks" to crunch tasks to completion and would seemingly benefit the science as well. A modest 5 or 10k would probably accomplish this, and shouldn't be out of line when compared to the long run times involved. |
