A lot of discussion on that in the Stuck upload issue thread.

After some month I'm starting boinc again on my main computer, CPID tasks are downloading, but at start they always brake with computational error. The computer was not changed.. same hardware, operating system...
I've already ~1mil credits on this machine, so it was working and will be working somehow...

Please post a link to one or more recent tasks where this has happened.

I see we have some new work. Some wah2_pnw’s (batch 695) and wah2-global’s (batch 696). Not sure how many as they seem to all be gone now.

Yes, indeed. I've been lucky enough to get a few...sorry. ;-)

Well done Sarah, new export files with data from the stats update from Monday night...

And BOINCstats picked up the update at 14:09 today. Thanks to all who helped make this happen.

Does anyone know the url of the CPDN page that BOINCSTATS and other external sites poll so I can bookmark it?

Also, how often does BOINCSTATS poll for updates?

I've PM'd the BOINCstats admin and will pass on what he says (if he doesn't reply in the forum himself).

...Can someone who looks at these things tell me if it has been picked up by external sites yet? thanks.

Not yet at BOINCstats; however, I don't think they pick up any available update until later in the day. That also assumes they are looking in the right directory for the export (which has been an issue in the past).

The result of the latest credit run isn't shown in Boincstats, so it seems export doesn't work.

It could be that the export part is still to be handled on the weekend run.
9) Message boards : Number crunching : Inactive Accounts to be Removed (Message 57315)

In case you missed the this recent post in the News forum:

From Andy at CPDN staff:

To comply with the Data Protection Act 1998, we are required to only keep personal data for as long as it is absolutely necessary. We will therefore only keep records of inactive volunteers for three years from now on. Initially any records inactive since 2014 or before that date will be removed. We will continue to remove records that have been inactive for three years or more on an ongoing basis.
Therefore anyone who signed up prior to this and has been inactive for over three years but wishes to renew their engagement will need to set up a new account. If you have been inactive for the last couple of years and wish us to retain your email and username, please reactivate your account as soon as possible.

Project credits from these accounts will be retained but will no longer be linked to an email address or username.

Current, active, volunteers, or those who have been active in the last three years, will not be affected by this policy.

12) Questions and Answers : Windows : Do I need virtualbox? (Message 56748)

Post:
Under project tab it says work done = 0.

The "Work done" column on the Projects tab of the BOINC manager refers to how much credit you have been awarded by the project. Since the two tasks you have were sent only two days ago, no credit for the computing power performed on those tasks has been awarded because the credit script hasn't run for over two weeks (see the Credit Status thread I referred to earlier for more details).

A virtual machine is not required to run tasks for this project.

However, what do you mean by "zero work has been performed"? If you mean to say that you haven't been awarded any credit, that might be because the project's credit script hasn't run in the last couple of weeks. It's supposed to be run once a week, but that often doesn't happen. You can check the Credit Status thread for more information on that.

I do wonder what effect the infequent credit updates (together with the large work unit sizes) have on the work allocation between projects on my PC...

The BOINC manager considers many factors when allocating run time between projects, but I don't think project credit is one of them.

The update can take a while to show on stats sites, as it's up to them to get the data and put it on their sites...

True, but new data has to be provided by the project. What's the date on the most recent export? I think I knew once where to look, but don't remember...sorry.

Not for me - BOINCstats show me at 587,571 yet my BOINC hosts show the credit at 612,689.

Hi Jim,

I think Les was referring to the update that BOINCstats and Free-DC picked up three weeks ago on 24 October. My stats haven't changed on those sites since then, either.

It sounds like the credit export script needs some encouragement... :-)

In case some haven't come across this yet:

Windows 10 – Disable automatic shutdown after Windows Update

This looks like a great workaround, Les. I've put this in place on a couple of my BOINC-only PCs and will test.

Just to make sure I understand... This will allow updates to be downloaded and installed, but will prevent the auto-restart. Is that correct?
