Unfortunately Famous is currently the only model type available for Mac and Linux, so if you exclude Famous you will get no work at all.

Is there going to be more FAMOUS tasks? Server status page shows only 211 WU's left, and it's the only model type available for Linux and Mac.

I have the same problem with my Linux box. It has not trickled since 28 Dec, even though Famous models are still running fine. Transfer tab is full of stuck uploads just like on my Windows machine, which is successfully trickling.

My credit rate for recent models are:
CM3IGEO 24.9 credit/hour, AM3P_EU 25.1, AM3P_SAF 25.2, Famous 27.9, AM3P_PNW 28.0

I have only one CM3 model that is currently at 307 hours & 28.8% done, which indicates 1066 hour total time. All older CM3 models seem to be already archived so I can't make any comparison. The computer is AMD Phenom2 X6, Win7_64, 8GB RAM.

I suppose the CPU consumption of the new graphics really depends on what GPU you have. On my AMD Phenom2 X4 with Ati HD4850 the graphics use only 0 - 1% of CPU (or 0 - 4% of one core).

The text under the graph on the Nvidia marketing page you linked to reveals that even though the speed of the micro-physics kernel part increased significantly the overall program performance increased by only 25%. In addition, by going to the WRF page you can see that they are comparing a single-threaded CPU app to a multi-threaded GPU app.
Also google Amdahl\'s law.

Is the new Millenium model multithreaded? The old HadCM3 took three months. It would be nice if a quad core could do the same in three weeks.
57) Message boards : Number crunching : HADAM3P's too much RAC weight? (Message 38452)
Posted 5 Dec 2009 by 3rkko
Post:
This Boinc wiki page explains how RAC is calculated for all Boinc projects.

The official formula is:
New_RAC = Old_RAC*weight + New_Credit*(1-weight)
where weight = e^(-ln(2)*T/HL)

But if you know math you can see that e^(-ln(2)*T/HL) = 0.5^(T/HL)
where HL = half-life = 604800 seconds (7*24*60*60), and T is time since last RAC calculation.

In the formula I posted earlier in this thread I changed the time from seconds to days which means HL=7 and, because CPDN calculates credit only once a day, I set T=1, which leads to weight=0.5^(1/7). You will obviously not find this modified formula in the code.
58) Message boards : Number crunching : HADAM3P's too much RAC weight? (Message 37986)
Posted 11 Sep 2009 by 3rkko
Post:
The formula for RAC is:
Old_RAC * 0.5^(1/7) + Today\'s_credit * (1-0.5^(1/7)) = New_RAC

That is a weighted average so that more recent credit has a higher weight. It also means that your RAC has a half-life of 7 days.

If you start with a RAC of 2350 and your daily output is 660 credit, then according to the formula your RAC should be 974 after 17 days. Your current RAC seems to be 965, pretty close.

The computer is not overclocked and there has been no recent hardware changes. I did however open the case and there was a decent amount of dust clogging the CPU heat sink. Those dustbunnies are now gone.

The current model seems to be fine. The graphics window shows the Earth with nice warm colors so no iceball there.

Thanks for your reply.
