Long? The ones that we have now aren’t long. You should have been running CPDN back in the days of the 160 year models. They took about 33,000 hours to complete on a single core 1.2 Ghz machines with 265 MB’s (that's right 1/4 of a GB) of RAM. That was about 6 months running 24/7. :)

LOL. Might have to give this project a break until I finish creating my supercomputer ;)

No need to be sorry, I didn't either and I haven't for World Community Grid either. What I should have suggested is that this is put on the sign up page for when you create an account.

Agree :-)

I think the problem is that unless someone planning to sign up for CPDN gets round to reading the System Requirements page first they won't know that the vast majority of tasks take from a few days upwards to complete.

Sorry :(

Thanks for response.

Hmmm, I have suspended climateprediction project for time being in Boinc :( I'd love to contribute but I don't have the capacity really to do the long tasks justice.

Hi,

I keep getting "Weather at Home 2" tasks sent to my Boinc which are days long in length for processing. Last one was 3 days, current one is 11 days. These will take an incredibly long time on my PC to get through because I'm also subscribed to multiple other projects, plus it gets depressing seeing climateprediction tasks in my list that have hardly shifted in months.

There's no way to say "Only give me tasks that are less than 24 hours in length" is there?

Should I just untick the Weather At Home 2 project?

Well, then perhaps that's not (or wasn't) the issue. You've got a task now, so maybe there's no longer a problem. Happy crunching! :-)

Oh yeah! Thanks :) All I did was delete an old computer account on this site and also detach and reattach. Hey presto it's working now :)

When I search for that user ID here at CPDN, I don't find it. You could try detaching from the project and then re-attaching, using the option to create a user account with the ID "StephenCWLL".

[edit]Sorry... I think I mean create an account with the same email you use with your other BOINC projects. Then you can edit the account and make the user ID StephenCWLL.[/edit]

Confused :/ I only ever use the same email account with any of my boinc projects.

Well, I'm baffled :) It could well be that things have got confused over time as I spent some time away from boinc and then had to remember all the accounts I used to be with when I started back up again. Then there's been a re-image of my computer.

StephenCWLL is my userID. I use that with boinc. In here I have the smurley ID it seems, which is also obviously me :) Name shouldn't matter as long as I have the credentials to login?

I think I need someone who understands all these accounts better than us both because I need help :)

According to this website my computer hasn't been in touch with HQ since 25th Feb this year. I notice in boinc that it doesn't seem to be fully connected.

Here's what the event log says - seems it doesn't have my computer ID also, so I guess it isn't connecting. I restarted boinc and it seems to confirm that it's failing to connect just to climateprediction?

I also got the email a few days back. My one and only computer running boinc is on 7.2.42.

I see on my computers page that it's not had any contact with climateprediction.net since back in February but I can assure you that it's up and running other projects quite happily. I'd wondered why it's been doing nothing from your project but not got round to investigating. It is however on the latest version, so what can I do to get it working with your project again?
