1) Message boards : Number crunching : How hot may an Intel Core duo E6600 become? (Message 29431)

Hi Leendert

Do you ever air clean your heat exchange? If you do all well and good, I tend to clean my older model duo with only two cores , every month. I only run at 42, 44C. I would only worry if it crept up to 60, 65C. But it has never exceeded 65C. Use air duster or a product like it to keep the dust buildup down, clean all fans, and if your cpu exceeds thermal tolerance, the throttle on cpu temp should close it down. That is normally above 70C on a Intel.

Just clean regularly all fans, PU, case, and cpu. Hope that helps. If your box is off the self, and a good make then you should have a multi speed fan, or fans as standard.

Keep on going for the next trickle, as I see no fatal errors. Upload and check again. Just no error as in 0x0? Not my forty but pulled a few back!

As mentioned by Alasdair the paving of driveway\'s and gardens in the UK, is not reducing the CO2. But the main problem with this is down to water being absorbed from rainfall.
This sounds really petty, but its not. The less land able to absorb rain means a falling water table. So increasing a bad situation, in two ways, no green absorption of CO2 and rainfall running too waste down the drains as apposed to being used to higher the water table! .

Not fully agreeing here, but I will have to see if you mean CO2 and nothing else, that leads to Methane exposure, then the break down of Methane is a form of CO2. The problem is it breaks down and is present in the atmosphere as CO2 for longer than its base as Methane. Methane as in its raw state, expelled from the retreating tundra is about 20 times more potent as a gas, but less of a dire problem as it degrades, but helps to throw things off track. Thus adding to the effects, but it will be limited if abuse of humans, and nations, who are starting to see(including the USA, and China), all moderation is for the benefit of all!

But it is hard to say I have, and you must accept less!

Don\'t panic!
Too late dear boy, well to late! I have reduced my requirements for derv, electricity, and gas. But I am only one, the tipping points that everyone talks about, have started to tip. The one saving grace is we have a fighting chance to change the abuse in the future. But on no account will it get any better, till the world moderates its abuse, (read mankind) till the ape decides to live with the world not change it!

I will have to go and digest the information you have given me, Slartibartfast (Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy). I just don\'t see you as a grey-haired old man, drawing fiord\'s.

Hi
I have only quoted your own governments published information. This may be misleading, but I hazard a guess its not too far out. The peak loads required to fuel the nations requirement are more than probably supplied by Hydro. I have to use a dirty fuel, as you say. But my monthly bill at the peak of the price increase in the UK last winter only work out at £6.50 per month. I try to keep my use down in all areas, except running my computer 24/7 on this project.

You must remember that using Nuclear as a low carbon fuel is a good idea, with the exception of, dirty fuel to build it, dirty fuel to dig the basic fuel in the beginning, and dirty fuel to transport it around the world. Norway is not totally self sufficient according to your own nations information, and will run out of renewable supply in the next 5 to, 7 years! But this is not base supply, this is provided 24/7 365 day\'s a year. What supplies your base?

The fact you have raised is beyond dispute, but as living in Norway you may well be aware that you are heading for importing power from other nations in the not too distant future! Norway does not have the full capacity to provide its full power consumption in the next few years, and you use gas power on a large scale to produce electricity. This is better than coal, but what is your base load produced by?

Base load is 24/7 365 days a year.

Is this tool bar compatible with AOL? Not a problem with me as I use both Microsoft and AOL, but some don\'t. I will download the tool bar to MS7 and use it there.

I have never seen such anger, free speech is a right to all, and if for no good reason withheld, the anger is clear.

Censorship is the last resort ( if comments are within the law of the land and decency, no arguments can stand against the poster, only the admin.), if used in haste it only compounds the problems for all, namely the fool that tried it, to calm a situation.

It is clear from all the links and having read a bit of the forum mentioned as to get an idea, simple just don\'t crunch for it and delete it from your portfolio (before doing so, read on a bit).

Post any were you can get a clear and uncensored opinion out, to reasonable crunchers, and then if all else fails, a full bodied campaign against joining the forum! Just one point if the project is good for all in your opinion continue to crunch for the betterment of all, if not in you\'re opinion, as above leave it and never darken your time with them again.

Hi Bellator

I was flat lined yesterday, so you are a few days more than me. But you must make sure you are passed December of the next year to get the credits for the year crunched, December the 8th is best as then you know you have pasted the required date.
I try to update after the turn of the new year, as then I know its fine!

Is the 25yp referring to 25 years? If not can any one give me a breakdown on its meaning?

Hi Bellator

Do you have a firewall setting that is blocking connection? Are you still seeing progress in the manager ie % wise?

I nearly forgot, just take a look at your task, and see if it is still running, in hours crunched, this is very clear in the mini view, but in the graphics just keep an eye on the dates?

The last time you connected to the sever was on the 20th of Feb, with this model, hadcm3ohc_2cm0_05658015_0?

Have you tried to update since then? Go to the manager and try to update manually! Use Projects, update, on the advanced menu. If that does not work, then you need more help than I can give off the top of my head.

Thanks Carl.

We all know how busy you are but giving an outline of future plans is really useful, especially as many people take the end of the BBC involvement as the end of the project.

Hi Rob

Most of that idea came from the programme the Beeb put out on the telly. It did not help that most of the crunchers did not visit the forum. But as by nor leave, we are coming over here one by one as our models finish. This can only help with the research and our own peace of mind, in helping to go forward.
