By the way, I think it happens automatically and most people don't seem to pay much attention to it but team Scotland has had several fairly recent Users of the Day in CPDN - Dave McK in November, Derek and Graham in December and John Cropley in January. None of them still crunching, though still registered with the team.

Just a reminder that all you need to do to be in the running for User of the Day is to create a "profile" in this project (see "Participant profiles" on the menu at the left of this page) - which doesn't need to give away any personal information.

PS: annoyingly, I find I'm having to log in to this page every time, despite my instruction to "remember me on this computer" :-(

Many thanks, Les, you're a scholar and a gentleman and I'm most grateful to you for all the times you've most kindly come to my rescue since I first joined the BBC part of the climate project years ago - was it 2005?

So I aborted that one and eventually got another one, which seems to have no problems - third time lucky?

Nice to see you, Iain - shame about the veggie haggis. Though some of them are not bad, my sister once used one to stuff her Christmas turkey, which worked extremely well! Are you now planning a real haggis for Valentine's Day? ;-)

Yes, team Scotland sometimes does fall between the cracks while moving between pages 1 and 2 of the team pages.

I've got another strange message on my current model - which doesn't say "no resubmission" like the one I aborted, but is giving me a daily message:

03/02/2014 10:12:54|climateprediction.net|Task hadcm3n_7a96_1980_40_008424573_2 is 131311.72 days overdue

BUT, when I check on the actual task, it says Report deadline 28 July 2023

I haven't spotted any explanation of that one in the News and Announcements!

Well done hagar, good to keep the Bard's memory alive. Good for your daughter-in-law too. I once went to a Burns Supper in a restaurant in France - when I was invited, I assumed that at least one of the proprietors must be Scottish - but no, they were French, just had an affection for Scotland. I was working in Switzerland at the time and found that the Swiss loved haggis - I often used to take some back with me when I came back to Scotland.

And well done too on being team Scotland's top CPDN contributor - amazing RAC and heading for 10,000,000 credits! ;-)

Did anyone here celebrate Burns Night on Saturday? Apparently nobody in the Scottish Community Forum did (!!!) - or, if they did, they're not saying. I celebrated twice - once with an informal dinner & live clarsach music in the Pavilion's new Caf Bar on Saturday, and the previous week at a formal Burns Supper given by Dingwall Gaelic Choir. Haggis, neeps and tatties at both, of course. Also cranachan for pud at both - broth for starters at the Dingwall one but Cullen skink at the Strathpeffer one, just delicious.

Thank you very much Les, I appreciate your advice as always and am sorry to be so bad at following the announcements. So I've aborted it and am waiting in line for another.

Finally did get a new task, which is happily running but the report deadline is showing as 1901 - I'm just ignoring the deadline as usual but that one does seem a bit strange! ;-)

Happy New Year to team Scotland and everyone else reading this. Hope you all had a great festive season and wish you all the best for 2014. Not a very good start for CPDN though - "no work from project". I'll just keep trying.

Haven't been here for a long time, sorry so BUSY! But just thought it worth mentioning that it may be only temporary but team Scotland is currently once again in 20th place in RAC and still at 19th place in total credits. Keep up the good work, folks ;-)

You're helping in quite a big way, Dave Roberts, well done!

All the CPDN websites seem to have been offline or inaccessible for some considerable time, but all seems to be in order now and I've just sent what is for me a mega-trickle ;-)

Even if AS gets his way (and personally I hope he doesn't!), I trust no-one will leave the team on that account!

Congrats to Dave Roberts on his million - well spotted, Ian ;-)

Team RAC has dropped sharply, probably because all the CPDN websites were offline for several days this week. I had therefore suspended network activity (while still crunching). But I saw they were back online - I think it was Thursday - so resumed network activity and I thought I "trickled" immediately, but it doesn't seem to have registered yet - my account is still showing "last contact 11 July". Perhaps the stats are just taking a while to catch up with the backlog.

Hi Dave, nice to hear from you and you're welcome for the welcome! We're quite proud of our friendly little team and many of us (including me) also started out on the BBC project - I also "lost" my BBC credits where CPDN is concerned because I changed my email address after the BBC project finished. But ian.sm somehow still manages to include my BBC credits on his wonderful team stats pages, don't know how that works but I'm grateful to him ;-)

But of course, it's the science that matters, not the credits as such!

How lovely to live on the beautiful Isle of Skye.

PS: since you reminded me of lost credits, I've just noticed that my CPDN credits have finally overtaken my BBC credits, which is a good feeling.

Just in case anybody's interested, ABC Radio are currently broadcasting live from Strathpeffer Pavilion in honour of Strathpeffer's famous annual Victorian Day (yours truly has just been interviewed, but it's a live broadcast, so you've missed that  ;)

Not sure if this is going to work for forum members overseas but here's the link http://abcradio.co.uk

A very warm team Scotland welcome to Dave Roberts, who has just joined the team, as already spotted by IanB and Ian.sm. Thank you for joining us - we hope you'll enjoy being part of this friendly team, Dave, and we look forward to hearing more from you. And, since you posted elsewhere in this forum asking whether your credits would move with you (which they do in CPDN, unlike other BOINC projects), I hope you'll be pleased to hear that the addition of your credits to our team has pushed us into 19th position in total credits - overtaking team UK, who have 827 members compared to our 120! ;-)

Glad to have pointed Iain and Ian.sm in the direction of new models too ;-)

My last model finished and I've been waiting a few days for a new one, with no work available, but I've now got one and there are a few more ready to send, if anyone else is looking - they're RAPIT project (hadcm3n)

Thanks for the tip - I got one too!

Well done, Iain! ;-) Actually, there are a lot more ready to send now - there were only 48 when I looked yesterday.

Hi Dave, while greatly admiring IanB's restraint in explaining team credits to you without inviting you to join team Scotland, I thought I'd just add that you'd be more than welcome to do so! ;-)

WOW, not only are we at 8th in RAC today but we've also moved into 20th place in total credit, so on the front page of the team rankings in both categories - well done everybody! ;-)
