1) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Make 1 project run continuously (Message 45194)

Not sure what you mean here. What would happen in that case? I'd like to add I have 9 projects running. One CP and the rest are all Seti's. Some are Seti Enhanced and some Cuda_fermi.

So I have a quad core here (I7 on a Z68 mainboard), the GPU (Geforce 560) and the Intel HD Graphics.

Hope I get a second CP soon...

Edit: Oh wait, I think I know what you mean. But that is no problem, CP is probably the most important thing anyway in the BOINC sphere of things. I might stop Milyway, what good does that do our Earth, to know whatever they want to find out with it. Science is important, but none so much as understanding our climate.

So if I have 3 projects (Seti/MilkyWay/CP) and I want to have CP run 2 models I set the preferences in CP to 200 and the Seti and MilkyWay to 100 each?
3) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Disk Space Problems (Message 43554)

Which is fairly annoying and not bright considering the importance of this project.

I got it too work now, running one model but don't ask me how and what I did. I increased most space assignments I think. The difference between local and settings online I still can't see clearly. Even when I upped local settings it didn't seem to have enough allocations.

So I can delete had and famous? Or the others. Geophi isn't particularly clear on that.
4) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Disk Space Problems (Message 43391)

CP.net constantly wants more disk space. I don't understand why. I have set it to use
- 12 GB
- leave 0,2 GB free.
- 25% of my disk space.
- 56% of total disk size and
- 50% of total disk space, when active
- 95% of total disk space when inactive.

HADAM3P needs 1907 MB and it says I have 1313 MB free, so it needs 549 MB.
Coupled Model Full Res Ocean needs 486 MB more.

With these settings how can it still be needed more space? And what setting should I change?

5) Questions and Answers : Windows : Manager Not Retain Size (Message 35041)

The Boinc Manager does not retain its size state after being minimised to tray. It comes back as a little screen instead of the desired dragged out (bottom right window drag fuctionality of windows) screen. Forcing me to enlarge the window manually each time.

Is there a solution to this?

Appreciate some feedback!

Addendum:

You have quite a lot of crashed models, and these will be taking up space. There is also instructions in that same disk usage post about how to clean up after them. Note that Vista tends to kill models when it shuts down, it may help to right-click and \'exit\' from Boinc just before shutting down. There is a VISTA section in the README.

I would also recommend running without the screensaver (given that there are a lot of 0x40010004 errors in your model list). Set the screensaver to \'blank\'.

Do you have any climate models suspended? If so, that will prevent any more from being downloaded.

Yes I cleaned everything out. I\'ll turn the screensaver off. I can run the seti one without problems I hope.

Thanks for the help, I\'ll see what happens in that other place. It is doing work now, so I must have done something right. After I cleane dout the dir it donwlaoded a new workload. And then it crashed again. So I deleted that too and it did another download.

I\'ll make sure to close boinc manually before shutting down Vista.

Btw, 5%...what is I don\'t use C:\\?

Hi,

Boinc does not download new work for me anymore.

I don\'t understand perhaps how to set the prefs in my account and locally.

When I use local prefs and click the Çlear\' button it resets to 3GB. However, online I have set it to use 7.1 at most, leaving at least 0,2GB, using at most 5% of disk space. I can\'t see what disk I designated but all of them have more space than 7.1 GB.

How do I set my prefs so boinc will download new work please?
8) Questions and Answers : Preferences : Allocation of DiscSpace (Yes, I have read the other posts - not helping) (Message 25777)

Yes, measured in gigabytes, the climate project uses about 0.6 Gigs.

This is not one of the tiddlers like SETI, etc. This is the Earth\'s atmosphere that\'s being modeled, in 3D, at half hour intervals, plus one hour intervals for the ocean, all for a period of 160 years.
It divides the atmosphere into cells, with a horizontal resolution of 2.5 in latitude by 3.75 in longitude, and has 19 vertical levels in the atmosphere, and 20 in the ocean.

It needs elbow room!

This answers my question too. Funny how I missed how big it was...they kinda...sgade that away. They really like your help crunching numbers but me I couldn\'t have dreamed it would take 600 MB for a single package.

been crunching for Seti since 1999. But I just signed up and will now suspend because my system is slow and doesn\'t have the room for such packages until I upgrade my HD. So I will try again in a couple of months. When I have a faster Dual Core machine with plenty of RAM and space on drive.
