Thanks for quick answer.
Before posting here, I had checked the news section of climateprediction.net main page but could not find it.
Good that you point to this address.

Hi,

I've been a climateprediction user since 2004.
I would like to attach a new windows7 PC to my account.
I installed BOINC 7.0.28 on new PC.
Clicked on "Add project" in the Boinc manager
Clicked on climateprediction.net => it sets project URL to http://climateprediction.net/ but this address does not work, so I entered http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/ instead.
Then on next screen, I enter my credentials (which I checked from a web client) but got error msg:
"An error occured. Check the evenlt log for details"

How can I participate to climateprediction BOINC project??

By the way, does anyone knows what this error code means?
Is it a BOINC error code or a CPDN one?

I found somewhere in the forum a reference to a BOINC error codes file:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/error_numbers.h

I don't know whether it is complete. (and even wheter it is the actual BOINC error codes file!)

Also, does anyone has an equivalent for CPDN?

Don't take the message into account !!

Everything works properly now ,although I don't know why (rebooted again the PC, stopped/started again the service). I admit I've not been clear this time :)

I tried what you told. The result is that I get the same kind of BOINC "mock-up" screensaver, with a new message telling that BOINC is not running.

Any further suggestions? (I can't run BOINC since 2 weeks now)

I\'ve read threads dealing with this problem, but did not found a solution for it:

The problem occurs when launching boinc_gui.exe.

Here are the points that might be important to diagnose the pb:
- it occurs since I upgraded to XP SP2
- the BOINC service is running (start up info is D:\\[...]\\boinc\\boinc_cli.exe -win_service)
- the CPU is flat
- when setting my screensaver to BOINC, I get a BOINC \"mock-up\" screensaver that tells: \"secure windows desktop detected. You must uncheck the password checkbox to display the screensaver. This will be fixed in an upcoming release\"

any hint?

Hi,

On one of my computers, I have ADSL without any firewall.
The other computer, is behind a firewall but I don't know which one. Its internet connection is broadband.
None of the files get uploaded.
These 2 computers are the one I used successfully with the old CPDN platform.

A few monthes ago, the Bern server was down and it took very long to have it run again. Is this time again the Bern server which could be down?

I\'ve finished a model on the BOINC platform. Once again, it ended in the boring \"Temporarily failed upload\" error message. It is the 5th in a row, in 6 monthes. Each time, this message comes during a few weeks, and then the upload is dropped.

I precise that completed 11 models with NO problem on the same PCs, but old platform (not BOINC).

Will I ever be able to upload a model on BOINC? (In fact my 1st model uploaded successfully)
Is BOINC more disturbed by security issues than the previsous platform? Should I reconfigure something on my PC?
Should I move back to this old platform?

I must admit it is very frustating to always come down to this message.

15) Questions and Answers : Windows : good looking run ended in an error (Message 10521)
Posted 7 Mar 2005 by old_user2098

My "Results for user" page tells that run #26432 ended in an error, but it is possible to view all its associated plots for both temperature and precipitation.
The "all temperatures" plot does not correspond to the 3 corresponding plots, whereas all precipitation plots seem to be consistent.

Also, I remember, that when uploading results, my client tried to connect to server for weeks without success. It ended with something that looked to be a timeout.

So, is this run a lost one?

When I upgraded to Boinc 4.19 (I don't remember the initial version), 2 shortcuts appeared in my "windows startup directory").

This seemed to be the cause of a "Boinc runtime exception 108 File operation failure (...)"

Hi,

I have been notified on my personal mail account that I received a private CPDN mail. It should be accessible through
http://www.climateprediction.net/board/privmsg.php?folder=inbox

But since the climateprediction forum is down, I don't know how to read my private mail.

Any clue?
thanks.

FYI, my upload problem finished by these 2 errors:

climateprediction.net - 2004-11-23 13:16:07 - Giving up on upload of 33fk_000165871_0_3.zip: too much elapsed time
climateprediction.net - 2004-11-23 13:16:04 - Couldn't delete file projects\climateprediction.net\33fk_000165871_0_1.zip

Only 2 zip files were concerned, the other ones uploaded successfully.
