Slight niggle here.
It should be: https://www.cpdn.org, with the 3 "w"s.

And "what's there now", top right, in the section about the GDPR, is the url to use, in magenta.

Both https://www.cpdn.org and https://cpdn.org attach the BOINC client to the dev project.

I do not see anything under the GDPR section saying to attach to https://www.climateprediction.net, instead of using the URL of the page where administer your account preferences (https://www.cpdn.org). The image below is what I see.

It should be on the https://cpdn.org page when you arrive at it. Andy was notified 4 days ago. Not sure when it was added but it's there now.

I am not sure I understand your answer. What is on the https://cpdn.org page? To be clear, I am asking about the URL redirect problem, where cpdn.org attaches to the dev project instead of the production project.

Yeah, it's pretty weird. If you aren't logged into this site, the main front page has the right URL to attach to ( https://climateprediction.net/ ).

If you are logged in here, the instructions and the right URL aren't there on the main page. It probably should be there either way.

I searched around the front page, and also the FAQ page, looking for the URL to use to attach, but couldn't find anything about that. Maybe if I was not already logged in, I could find it? Anyway, I think the project owner needs to straighten this out in the code. Otherwise there are going to be a lot of new and returning folks who either can't attach, or attach to the wrong project.

(FWIW, I detached and re-attached just to make sure there was no left over oddness.)

Yes, the URL that is automatically populated when using BOINCmanager is "https://climateprediction.net/". But I though we were supposed to be using the new URL now. And the links in the BOINCmanager dialog box can be out of date. And if you are using command line, none of that applies anyway. You have to come up with the URL yourself. And if you are on this site copy/pasting from the URL field, it is www.cpdn.org.

Also, it is weird that "https://www.cpdn.org/" attaches to the dev project. Because the URL for the dev project is "https://dev.cpdn.org", which is different obviously. if www.cpdn.org is not the right URL for the main project (still using the legacy address,), it should re-direct to the primary project, not the dev project. But it is clearly re-directing to the dev project.

I just tried to attach some machines to the project using the new URL "https://www.cpdn.org/". BOINCmanager shows the project name as "cpdnboinc_dev". I then tried using the old "https://climateprediction.net/" URL, which attaches a project displayed as "climateprediction.net". And that's even more confusing, because I thought the old URLs just redirected to the new www.cpdn.org site. Is something messed up on the server-side, or am I using the wrong URL to attach?

Okay. I will abort those downloads, and set to NNT.

Just so I am clear, what URL should I be attached to for when things start working again? The old one or the new one?

Did you back up your boinc data before attaching with the new url? If so you probably have that file. Also have any of the other files downloaded OK?

I did not have any tasks on that machine, when I switched. So nothing lost.

Yes, there are 5 items that are pending download. See Screen Shot.

Is the problem back? I have a task that is stuck downloading.

77959	cpdnboinc	5/24/2018 6:51:51 AM	Started download of wah2am3m2_um_8.24_windows_intelx86.zip
77960 5/24/2018 6:51:54 AM	Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
77961	cpdnboinc	5/24/2018 6:51:54 AM	Temporarily failed download of wah2am3m2_um_8.24_windows_intelx86.zip: connect() failed
77962	cpdnboinc	5/24/2018 6:51:54 AM	Backing off 04:08:15 on download of wah2am3m2_um_8.24_windows_intelx86.zip
77963 5/24/2018 6:51:55 AM	Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

I checked the server status page and all is green, although it was last updated May 21. If it makes any difference, I am attached to the new URL, per the instruction in the BOINC manager event log.

TIA!

Yes, I am talking about windows machines here.

But the bad tasks should be aborted from the server-side, all the same. The machine will likely contact the server to fill a different thread slot, and would then learn to kill the task.

There is no reason to *not* kill those bad tasks from the server side:

If *nix: They die anyway
if Win: They need to be killed anyway.

I received several of these too. Will the bad tasks be aborted server-side?
