21) Questions and Answers : Windows : no new credit, though trickled up (Message 24493)

I have had the same trouble. My computer has trickled up 4 times since Friday and my credit total and RAC have remained the same. I was starting to wonder if anyone had this problem. Will I get credit for missing trickles when system is back up. I know that the credits don’t really mean anything, but, I have been trying to break into the top 20 on the team. I’m now stuck at 23.
22) Message boards : Cafe CPDN : SERVER DOWN? (Message 24438)

What’s going on with climateprediction web site. Has the server been down or what. My computer has been trying to send a trickle up message for the last 30 hours.
Boinc Manager “Messages” keeps saying:

23) Message boards : Number crunching : Dumb Question? (Message 24030)
Posted 19 Aug 2006 by old_user195056
Post:
Hi, there are no dumb questions on this forum !!
First the model computes the atmosphere datas and then the ocean datas: the ocean datas are computed faster than the atmosphere datas that\'s why you think the increment is 1 hour.
But in fact, the increment (called timestep) is 1/2 hour for both the ocean and the atmosphere.
An extract from the Model introduction page:
\"The coupled model runs asynchronously, which means that the atmosphere model runs first for some time then the ocean model runs for some time, taking turns. In the case of the model used in the climateprediction.net experiment, the individual components run for one day at a time.\"

RAC is the average credit for one day. As it\'s a mean value, it\'s going up and down slowly, but it\'ll stabilize.
HTH

Thank You.

Hi. These may sound like dumb questions, but, I have only been running the model for 2 weeks. Does anyone know why at the end of each model day, the model repeats that day in one hour increments? Also how are “recent average credits” figured? Over what period are they averaged? My average keeps going up despite the fact that my computer is running the model the same number of hours each day.

I AM NEW TO THE PROJECT AND I KNOW THAT I SHOULD BE MAKING BACKUP COPIES OF THE wu IN CASE OF A CRASH. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I DON\'T KNOW HOW. CAN ANYONE HELP?
26) Questions and Answers : Windows : model is taking way too long to process. (Message 23905)

Given that the work units are so long, it\'s always a good idea to take a backup of the c:\\program files\\boinc directory after shutting down the model. That way if something happens to the work unit, you can resume it from the backup.

Hello, I’m a new to the BOINC and climateprediction. It’s going to take me 4 or 5 months to run model.
I realize that with a project that is going to last so long it is a good idea to make a backup. How do I do that?
