22) Questions and Answers : Windows : Retry Transfer is failing (Message 18563)

I have since investigated this further and found a number of message threads discussing the problem. It seems it relates to the failure to connect to the receiving server due to it being \"down\". Previously, the Berne server has experienced a power outage causing participants to experience similar errors.

An important piece of information is the abandonment of the upload following two weeks of failed uploads. The message link below includes a five point resolution to this problem from Thyme Lawn, which involves resetting the timer.

From what I understand, this resets the timer to zero, allowing a further two weeks for the relavant server to be recovered.

I wait in hope....

Having been without Broadband for a couple of weeks, my hadsm34.13 application completed. Since regaining a broadband connection the transfer will not restart. Only 1.11% (0.02Mb) of the first zip file is transferred before it hangs and later fails. Any ideas?
25) Questions and Answers : Windows : BOINC 4.45 incompatibility with Backup4all (Message 16590)

Having recently upgraded from v.4.19 to v.4.45, I find that my data backup application, Backup4all, fails to open. I have advised the Backup4all team of the problem, and wondered what change occurred in 4.45 which might cause this conflict. Closure of BOINC 4.45 enables successful operation of Backup4all. A trial application is available at http://www.backup4all.com.

Would the failure to connect to the surver cause this problem? Due to my running a dial-up internet account, I do not necessarily have a live connection when the experiment wishes to upload to the project server. It then defers communication for 1 day, then 3 days if it misses again. Following multiple connection failures is it possible it could cease to run. I see no way of forcing a manual upload.

BOINC has been running nicely for the past couple of days, since installation, but it has now disappeared from the Task Bar and does not show as active in the Task Manager. Selecting BOINC from the Start bar displays the logo in the Task Bar for a moment only. I cannot start it or open it and restarting the PC has no effect. Any ideas?
