Ok, I forwarded this so far - thanks to both of you :-)

But it still doesn't explain, why the model is not a full run in this case, all three phases have been completed so it should have "success" state now. Any ideas?

It is not a credits question, the question is more : Will those data be used independant from the state in the database that doesn't reflect the real progress?

(sorry, I used the wrong ID for this reply, should be "Ananas")

This would bear the risk of a -5 error :-/

Instead of adding project and account through the menu, you can just copy account_climateprediction.net.xml to the BOINC directory of the new computer
4) Questions and Answers : Windows : Win98SE: Result exits code -5 (0xfffffffb) (Message 7133)

I'm quite sure its is a conzeptional bug in BOINC - it happens only with CPDN as CPDN consists of multiple programs.

- BOINC starts program A
- program A starts program B
- BOINC shuts down and kills program A
- program B survives and holds files open.

I can easily reproduce this -5 error by starting BOINC on a Dual CPU machine, then starting two Seti-Classic tasks or running a WinAmp video to create load on the CPUs. Exiting BOINC always leaves two "living" CPDN tasks behind then - if you kill those with a task manager immediately, CPDN will restart properly but if you do not care about them, both models will crash and the projects error output will contain messages about files that could not be opened or created.

It does not happen if the machines are only lightly loaded.

I had it on a Dual P3/1266 and on a Dual MP2600+ so far, both running Win2k.

The fix has to be done on BOINC side, one possible solution would be a list of secundary PIDs that a client has started so BOINC could shut them down in the proper order.

A cleaner way would be if BOINC would announce shutdown and then wait for a "ready for shutdown" signal from the project client before it kills it.

I misunderstood the "recalculated" part then.

@Yeti : If you have any trouble with your host 1134, just put the CPU back in ;-)

Not really fixed yet. There are full runs with 6805.26 while others have 5444.21

edit :

<a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_user.php?userid=22513">This</a> is an example for the wrong index that I mentioned in some other post, all results that came in on 20 Nov are sorted upside down. (just saw it by chance)

I saw this one on "Project Stats" :

http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/result.php?field=Temperature&amp;resultid=30365&amp;phase=AT#graph

Looks wrong somehow.
10) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Default values in result graph (Message 6416)

Would be interesting to have the "standard" model values plottet into the model graphs (maybe dottet line and brighter colours) or even to be able to compare two models.
11) Message boards : Number crunching : top_teams.php needs team.inc (Message 6402)
Posted 26 Nov 2004 by old_user169
Post:
I guess, the BOINC guys forgot to add the new includes in those PHPs starting with "top_"

top_teams.php is missing
<b>require_once("../inc/team.inc");</b>

or your team.inc is outdated =&gt; undefined function: team_inactive_ndays()

probably (I didn't check that) same for top_hosts.php (host.inc) and top_users.php (user.inc)

p.s.: the SETI scripts do not have that problem, I guess it's fixed in their version already.
12) Questions and Answers : Windows : Is it something wrong with upload ? (Message 6213)
Posted 18 Nov 2004 by old_user169
Post:
We need "sticky news" or a server status page that allows admin comments for stuff like this - linked from the web root.

p.s.: although I dried out BOINC with "-exit_when_idle" and nothing is missing but the upload, the client still needs 100% CPU.

(not to end crunching for CPDN but to start my own account :-) )

Sorry, the 100% is not a CPDN problem, it's a BOINC bug - although I had "-exit_when_idle" it downloaded one more WU :-(

One more thought about the problem :

If hadsm3<b>se</b>...exe calls <i>boinc_init_options()</i> with <i>opt.main_program=true</i> instead of hadsm3<b>um</b>...exe, this would explain why slots/?/boinc_lockfile didn't do the job to avoid a second client working on the same model.
14) Questions and Answers : Wish list : HTML links on page bottom (Message 6108)
Posted 14 Nov 2004 by old_user169
Post:
It would be nice to have the menu links as HTML tags too, not only JS ones.

I often open a link in a new Mozilla tab and those JS links do not work for that.

With JS disabled (on IE no JS for me) they do not work at all, no alternative links come up then.

It (nearly) happened again - this time with the CLI :

I shut down the BOINC CLI but the CPDN client kept running.

But this time I saw that it was still there so I killed CPDN from the task manager - it did not destroy the model this time, it restarted properly.

So now I'm quite sure, the problem is that under certain circumstances the project client doesn't end but the BOINC client doesn't retry to kill it.

The machine was under heavy load when it happened (one CPU was doing Seti Classic, the other was supposed to do some 3D rendering stuff). I reproduced it 3 times now under the same load - it is definitely a bug.

(I posted a link to this thread to the BOINC forum.)

17) Questions and Answers : Windows : Boince CLI version of CPDN (Message 5924)
Posted 5 Nov 2004 by old_user169
Post:
If you run the CLI as a service :

- net stop BOINC
- boinc_cli -uninstall

If you run it from the command line, use Ctrl+C to stop it, wait a few seconds and then just start boinc_gui in the same directory.

There are plans to have GUI and core client separate so the GUI can access the state informations of the cmdline client.
18) Questions and Answers : Windows : Changing of Project Name (Message 5920)
Posted 5 Nov 2004 by old_user169
Post:
I've read about this one several times already in all project forums.

What you could try is :

Shutdown BOINC, then check (and fix) the master_url and project_name entries in the account*.xml files. After BOINC restart it should be fixed *hopefully*.
19) Questions and Answers : Wish list : Trickle display not in right sort order (Message 5919)

Current sort order seems to be :

Time Sent, Timestep

Better would be :

Time Sent, Phase, Timestep

or :

Time Sent, (Phase-1) * 259248 + Timestep
