Look at people and fitness trackers. Without trackers, people tend to walk or run less, or less often. But when they have a tracker, they're more likely to want to walk/run/work out more often and for longer periods, as a competition against themselves (15,000 steps? Bah, I can do 20,000!) or against friends (You slacker! Only 10,000 today?). It's a fairly basic aspect of human psychology. There's no conventional reward, but people tend to find satisfaction at meeting benchmarks and moving to the next one.

It's good to know it's not just me (Mac). Last several tasks have completed or near completed (I'd have to go back and look) and yielded "error while computing."

I agree.

I'm not obsessed with them, but do like to see the numbers go up and to hit milestones.

I'm showing down 233,000(ish), with 37 tasks completed but missing the validation and therefore now at 0 vs. whatever credits they had before. Some go back to at least 2013.

I wish there were a way to undo this, actually, because it's messed up my best day, highest world position, etc., on BOINCstats. Not much in the scheme of things, I realize.

11) Questions and Answers : Macintosh : .71 percent after a week, (Message 19963)

You\'ve got your computers hidden, so I can only give you a vague, general answer.

My Intel P4 3.2GHz computer, running 24/7, with no other projects, shows about 1300 hours for a sulphur model.

A 3D model of the Earth\'s atmosphere, at half hour intervals, for 15 years, takes a long time to compute. And there are 5 \'sets\' of these 15 year periods.

So you have to settle in for the \'long haul\' on this project.

Sorry about that -- during my OS install, the computer decided to name itself with my name. :)

Here\'s the info:

Machine Name: iBook G4
Machine Model: PowerBook6,5
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (1.2)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1.33 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1.25 GB
Bus Speed: 133 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 4.8.7f1

I just wanted to be sure that it really was supposed to take that long. I usually run this about 6-12 hours a day (home computer).

Thank you.

I\'m at .71 percent done after a week, which seems like it\'s taking forever. I\'ve also got 3126 hours \'til completion. Which would seem to be a few months (I\'m assuming that\'s normal). Can anyone tell if something is amiss? (The library is installed, etc.)

13) Questions and Answers : Macintosh : Client error (Message 19662)

Post:
The error messages on your failed models indicate that the library can\'t be found.

quote:
dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/ibmcmp/lib/libxlsmp.A.dylib

I reinstalled everything a couple times, then detached from the project and started over. Now it seems to be working.

OK I just answered my own Question by looking in the BIONIC Manager under the work tab and extending the Application column to show that it\'s running 4.22.

I\'d allready installed Bionic to run seti so missed the link to the library at the CPDN down loads page. I still say a prominant note in account preferences would be a good Idea.

Just off to see if I missed that to!

I\'ve had the library installed for a while and am not having any luck myself.

It looks like you haven\'t installed the application library that\'s required for Mac. It\'s on the download page (this is a direct link).

I have installed the library, which is why I\'m puzzled. I\'ll try again . . .

I have gotten no results but lots of \"client errors.\" BOINC seems to work okay, and SETI@home works fine. I do have the library installed along with BOINC, per one of the climateprediction.net pages. Any ideas? OSX (10.4.4), iBook G4, with maximum RAM and hard drive storage.
