At the suggestion of the Einstein at Home project, I recently updated my BOINC security certificates. Also, Mozilla Firefox has updated their certificates and I cannot connect to you all using HTTPS. Lastly, I cannot use Microsoft Edge nor Microsoft Internet Explorer to contact https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/. Does HTTPS ever work getting to www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc?

Nor are my trickle-up messages getting through. Is this a coincidence or a related issue? Is there a way to tell why my trickle-up is not getting through?

This has been talked about for weeks now, ever since the problems began.
But it's in the Number Crunching section: here

Basically:

The main server is being rebuilt after problems.
Trickle_ups should be OK, as they go to their own server.
Zips should be OK, as they go to servers all over the world.
It's only the "Reporting" that doesn't currently work, because there's no server for them to go to.
The Message board IS working (otherwise you wouldn't have been able to post), so about all that can be done at the moment is post comments.

(https DID work, for months, up until the current problems. Now only the unsecure address has been revived, temporarily.)

We're currently running on the backup server, who's address is: http://ithaqua.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/

OK, does this mean, in account_climateprediction.net.xml,
we should be using a different
<master url>What goes here now?</master url>
for <project name>climateprediction.net</project name>?

Or should we leave account_climateprediction.net.xml alone?

Sorry I missed the post in "Number Crunching". I would have
thought something like this would have been in "News"
(which I did check) or perhaps in another thread,
e.g. "Server Problems"?

Or am I just thinking too sequentially?

I missed something in the earlier post:

>It's only the "Reporting" that doesn't currently work, because there's no server >for them to go to.

This is the state of my current work unit. Should I just abort it (and assume
I've gotten all the credit I'm going to get (Right?))?

You can't Abort it either. :)
That would require the original server to be working.
All you can do is wait. There's a few others in the same boat.

As for the other matter, for a long time there was no Message board, so no posts could be made anywhere. There was mention of it on the BOINC site board, under Projects, and a thread was started there for posting.
But that only works for those that pop in here regularly, (daily ?), and know about these things.

The "ithaqua" url is only temporary, and will disappear again when we're back. Any accounts made on it will also disappear. It's really only so people have a place to post if they can't get to the old Message board site, which is the case with me. (I can see it, but I can't login. Strange.)

I just get this,
Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at www.cpdn.org.
or on Opera
This site can’t be reached
www.cpdn.org refused to connect.
I had some time ago accepted that I just have to wait.
I also note that https://www.cpdn.org isn't responding to pings.

Or maybe not,

After doing some work as opposed to playing looking at message boards, I clicked back on the tab in Firefox and could see the index page for the boards but got the same message when I tried to go further. I wonder if it will respond eventually to let me see posts?

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can shed some light on my problem.
In April I downloaded 2 work units which aren't due until April 8, 2019. The work units were completed but they fail to upload. I just get a message that says "Trickle up message pending". I have tried everything I could think of but the work units (happening on 2 PC's) just won't upload. I don't want to delete them as they are not yet due and it took me about a year to get any new work units.
Is there a problem, such as the one you mentioned, that is causing this or is there something I can do to get this to work? The PC's are using different OS's and on different networks in different locations.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

All of the servers for the Oxford e-Research Centre, which includes projects other than cpdn, had failures a couple of months ago, and everything has had to be rebuilt.
cpdn is at present dealing with some fiddly bits before it can be restarted.

*******************

There's NO deadline for tasks at cpdn. The one year is a BOINC "thing".

Models should be run, and the data returned, as soon as possible, to enable the research to be done.
Any that are dragging on for months may well be dropped, and new tasks issued to cover the gaps. You will however still get credits for them.

There's no information at present about what to do with tasks that were started before the downtime, so please continue running them.
