All I get is the "schedule request pending" for a couple of minutes, and then it goes to the 24 hour countdown clock. Been doing this for a few days.

That is because there isn't any work to download at the moment. If you click on the, "main Page" link at the bottom of the page and then on the server status it tells you how many tasks of different sorts are waiting to be sent out. I would guess that now the holidays are over it won't be too long before the scientists produce some more for Oxford to process.

That is how it works these days, - Once all the work was produced in house. Now the work is commissioned by scientists from around the world, some government funded stuff, some from academic institutions and that work is sent to Oxford to be distributed. Hence the glut or famine pattern of work that characterises this project.

In the old days, my machine(s) continually ran about three climateprediction tasks at a time, and sometimes a few others in the ready-to-start list. Now I go for so long that I no longer have any credits at all.

Does this mean that the scientists at Oxford have lost interest in climate-prediction studies, at least done on computers? Or that someone gave them a hypercomputer of their own, so they do not need us anymore? My BOINC priorities are set so that climateprediction would get half of my machine's spare cpu cycles, but now it is not getting any. I think my last work unit was:

The problem for your machine is that there isn't any Linux work (as there isn't any work for my Mac either). There has been a steady supply of work for the Windows application (see batch list).

My understanding is that an effort is being made to restore the Linux/Mac applications, but it evidently hasn't been successful thus far.

Indeed, This morning my last Linux task completed on my 1.2GHz celeron netbook which I am now retiring from cpdn. The task took a few days under 6 months to complete which while once the norm feels like a long time now!
