And now before my credit can increase again we need some more Linux tasks! I really don't want to go back to crunching under WINE!

Not really, don't like winxp,2k, 7, 8, 10. Prior to going open source I was with OS2 wARP4.

Might crack open a bottle of 2010 home made Blackberry Mead this evening though.

Great news and even grater if the script is going to run successfully on daily basis. Thanks to all the moderators and Andy for fixing it and also to all who step forward in expressing their concerns both for the credit and the communication. I do share the concerns and specifically re-read some of the science papers on distribute computing and CPDN (check publications), where the role of volunteers and the support to them is discussed and recent events show that CPDN is lagging behind to say the least.

OFF this TOPIC: I think we have at least 4 000 Mac & Lunux cores hungry for work. One can see that tasks in progress do not go over 126 000/500 (before up to 131/2k) and the queue in the hopper is big and slow in depletion. Hopefully this will be resolved.

And if the ghost WUs disappear from "in progress" we may have more realistic picture on hosts and tasks. Keep crunching.

Credits have been applied to my account as of 101117 for the first time in at least 2 months.

I can't be sure as your computers are hidden but I suspect these were hadcm3 tasks that have previously failed on other machines. Indicated by _1 or _2 at the end of the task name. The last two I got were both resends and unfortunately both failed at the same point they had on other machines. However I find that well over half of the resends I get do complete.

The daily credit script hasn't started to work yet. I a few finished tasks since 7th of October without credit.

Dave Jackson -- Can you ask Andy B what his planned timeline is to implement the new daily credit calculations? His note to you indicated he has "designed" a replacement system -- but it could be some time before it is tested and implemented. Would be good if he could give a timeline estimate to set expectations for everyone.

Was going to leave this till Monday but have emailed about this, trickles not reporting and a spam post in the science section. With luck someone with moderator privileges will hide that post.

I haven't checked but Andy says trickles now running again.
Daily credit script not running yet. Andy still has some work to do to get RAC to update daily as well as total. My guess is it will be soon.

Any sign that the credit script is going to run this weekend or was that a one time thing to quiet us down for a while?

Don't know about weekly runs. I am guessing Andy won't implement the script till he has sorted out the Recent Average Credit part of it. I also don't have a clue as to whether he is able to choose which of his many tasks to prioritise or if he is told which ones to do.

Another thread says there is still a problem with the credit script so when I email him about that on Monday, I may mention credits if no update this weekend.

Looks as though you were right about keeping us quiet. Have reduced my allocation back down again.

Credit script is running as I type. Don't know whether this is just to bring things up to date or the one that will run daily when Andy has finished working on it.

Edit: Andy says it is being very slow. Presumably because of the amount of data.

Hi,
I recently returned to CPDN after a long break.
I've completed a few WU over the last couple of weeks but got no credit for them.
What gives?
You are a project of great maturity & modest size. Bigger projects and newer ones seem to manage real time credit updates and exports as a matter of course. Tell us what the problem is, lest we grow weary and take our efforts elsewhere.

The problem is due to the history of the project. When I first came to the project, tasks could take six months or more to complete. This led to a credit system being designed that gave credit according to the trickle up messages tasks sent rather than relying on completed tasks. Recently that system fell over because the amount of data being processed went over some maximum set by either the set up at Oxford or possibly University IT policies. I am not sure which.

Andy is currently designing a system that will run every day. His first attempt at this only worked out total credit and not Recent Average Credit on a daily basis. I am not sure how close to a script that will do this without running into the problems of the old system he has reached.

As I said in my previous post the script is currently running but very slowly. I imagine this is because of the amount of data involved with a near constant supply of tasks recently. (Except for those like myself who have Linux or Mac machines.)

Maybe this is the reason why I see that all my already validated tasks have now 0 credits starting from 2013 when my main host became active. The total credit and RAC for my hosts are still there. Trickles have been updated.

Something is happening, - credit has gone from all my completed tasks on the web. Hopefully this is a prelude to the up to date figure going in.

Hi guys,
Same thing here. My credit is gone too; dropped from almost 3,9M to 271K.

That is 271K more than mine has dropped to!

However, because CPDN has a robust back up policy which has been demonstrated several times in the past, I do have confidence that it will get sorted out sooner or later.
